Role

Octus, formerly Reorg's lawyers deliver trusted real-time legal insights in the debt markets. Our Global Covenants team is looking for an experienced high yield lawyer in New York (with the option to work fully remote).

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze high yield documentation and debt structures, identifying key loopholes and novel provisions, to provide actionable insights to the primary and secondary capital markets.
  • Break-down complex documentation and summarize it clearly and concisely for a diverse audience across the buy-side and the sell-side.
  • Answer questions from leveraged finance market participants on bond covenants and their implications in real-world scenarios.
  • Engage with market participants and build your profile through seminars, webinars and podcasts.
  • Leverage Octus, formerly Reorg's industry-leading databases to provide our subscribers a competitive edge.
  • Collaborate closely with other Octus, formerly Reorg experts to produce industry leading covenant analysis, generate data-backed trendlines, and develop Reorg's products.
  • Build and nurture relationships with Octus, formerly Reorg's clients and industry contacts.
  • Represent Octus, formerly Reorg at industry events and conferences, and in dealings with the press.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience working in debt finance, with a focus on high yield bonds in a top law firm.
  • Exceptional legal technical skills with a passion for diving deep into documentation and the ability to uncover insights that others may miss.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a desire to provide clear, pragmatic and actionable legal analysis.
  • The ability to multitask and work both independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment with people from varied professional backgrounds.
  • A confident communicator, who writes in a clear and concise manner for the intended audience.
  • A proven track record of delivering high quality analysis within deadlines.
  • Qualified to practice New York law.

At Octus, formerly Reorg, we consider a range of factors in connection with compensation decisions, including experience, skills, location, and our business needs and limitations. As a result, compensation may vary within and across similar roles and positions. Please note that the salary range information below is a good faith estimate for this position and actual compensation for any individual may fall outside this range if warranted by the circumstances applicable to that individual. If we identify a role that would be suitable for a broader range of skills and experience such that we would consider hiring at multiple levels then the range listed below may reflect that breadth.

The salary range estimate (in total compensation, which includes a base salary plus an annual discretionary bonus) for this position is $270,000 - $360,000.

The actual compensation will be at Octus, formerly Reorg's sole discretion and will be determined by the aforementioned and other relevant factors.
