Company: Guy Carpenter Description: Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC is seeking candidates for the following position based in the New York, NY office (a telecommuting/hybrid work schedule may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite, in accordance with company policies): Senior Data Analyst We will count on you to: Build automated systems that benchmark key aspects of insurance company performance against peers and support advisory solutions. Develop, implement, and maintain leading-edge data analytics systems that enable efficient gathering, reporting and presenting data for advisory solutions. Be a trusted leader and resource for maintaining and improving data in various cloud and on-premises data warehouses storing critical databases. Design processes to improve efficiency and volume of data that can be analyzed to develop insights into clients' strategic opportunities and risks. Under the supervision of North America Head of BI, design, structure, analyze, and scrub databases of the insurance market and macro-economic information leveraging various external and internal datasets. Develop expert knowledge of GC proprietary systems (Cognos, BenchmaRQ, Metarisk, and claims dashboard), create standard and ad hoc enquiries, search out commercial value add in the data (patterns, trends and correlations etc.) and respond on a timely basis to broker queries. Curate information through text mining queries and corresponding data visualization to communicate risk insights to clients/stakeholders. Interpret and analyze company financial data to identify trends and opportunities in observed data. Provide data support for Request for Proposals (RFP). Assist in the development of presentations and respond to ad-hoc data enquiries. Support data needs for capital models to support clients' financial strength ratings. Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients. What you need to have: Must have a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus one (1) year of experience in the position offered, as a Software Engineer, Data Analyst, or a related position. Employer will accept pre- or post- Master's degree experience. In the alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus three (3) years of experience in the position offered, as a Software Engineer, Data Analyst, or a related position. Must have one (1) year (or three [3] years with a Bachelor's) of experience with all of the following: Programming in Python, R, Java or .Net for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis; Implementing scalable web dynpro and EJB applications using the SAP Netweaver Portal to help analyze insurance data, monitor performance and build a reliable information management system; Designing high-quality database solutions in PostgreSQL and MS SQL by writing SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, joins, and subqueries; Designing and implementing data pipelines, continuously expanding them through extraction, transformation, and loading activities using SQL and Microsoft Excel; Creating Excel templates with advanced functions (including Pivot table, VLOOKUP, Charts, Analysis, Power view, Formulas, VBA & Macros) for large datasets, enabling the identification of key trends and patterns; Developing reports, visualizations, and presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint to communicate strategic findings and presenting recommendations to key stakeholders for informed business decisions; Generating data models and visualization dashboards using knowledge of business principles, insurance accounting standards and insurance capital model frameworks. Travel requirement: 10% domestic and international travel is required to various and unanticipated company and client sites. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
