Position Overview

The Senior Database Platform Engineer will collaborate with a team to develop and enhance innovative solutions that drive our business forward. This versatile role will empower both business and technology teams to utilize various data platform technologies effectively. The Engineer will facilitate the provisioning, analysis, and consumption of data through high-performance, secure, and scalable database platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and automate the provisioning, configuration, monitoring, issue resolution, and security of database platforms.
• Utilize expert knowledge to troubleshoot complex database systems.
• Establish, implement, and maintain best practices for code quality, deployment, security, architecture, and automation.
• Work with business and technology teams to achieve engineering project objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Over 7 years of experience with database engines (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• More than 5 years of experience with cloud platforms across various providers (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, RDS, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Extensive experience with SQL or NoSQL languages (7+ years).
• Proficient in programming interpreted scripting languages (e.g., Python, Powershell) for over 5 years.
• Skilled in using and developing with configuration management tools and applying Infrastructure as Code principles (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Powershell DSC, Puppet, Chef, Cloud Formation) for over 5 years.
• Deep understanding of database platform engine internals, infrastructure, and concepts.
• Experience with REST APIs and other non-database direct interfaces.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and SDLC workflows (e.g., JIRA, Git, Bitbucket, Github, Liquibase, Jenkins, Octopus, DbUp).
• Commitment to high standards in database platform architecture and security.
• Strong engineering mindset applied to all aspects of the role.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts to diverse audiences and advocating for technology solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with containerized platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Interest or experience in object-oriented programming languages (e.g., C#, Java, C++).
• Interest or experience in data distribution systems (e.g., Kafka).
