We especially encourage women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, veterans, and people with disabilities to apply.Position Title Senior Director, Continuing Education Position Number 896451 School/Division Office of the Provost (division) Department Continuing Education Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description Reporting to the Provost & Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Senior Director of Continuing Education will oversee the strategic planning, management, and execution of the University's continuing education programs, ensuring they align with the University's mission and meet the educational needs of diverse learners. This role includes high-level supervision of the Precollegiate Career Discovery Institute and Summer Camps. The Senior Director will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance program offerings, drive enrollment, and maintain high-quality standards.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provides visionary leadership for the Office of Continuing Education, aligning programs with the University's strategic goals and the evolving needs of adult learners, professionals, and students.
- Oversees the design, development, and implementation of continuing education programs, including certificates, micro-credentials, and non-credit courses.
- Ensures that programs are market-driven, innovative, and responsive to the needs of the community.
- Supervises the Precollegiate Career Discovery Institute and Summer Camps, ensuring these programs offer enriching experiences that prepare students for academic and career success.
- Cultivates and maintains relationships with faculty, industry partners, employers, and community organizations to enhance program relevance and accessibility.
- Engages with stakeholders to identify emerging trends and opportunities for new program development.
- Develops and manages the Office of Continuing Education's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and resource allocation aligns with strategic priorities.
- Leads and mentors a team of program coordinators, instructors, and administrative staff.
- Provides professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
- Collaborates with the marketing team to develop and execute strategies to promote continuing education programs, increase enrollment, and expand the reach of the University's offerings.
- Ensures all programs comply with university policies, accreditation standards, and industry regulations.
- Implements assessment and evaluation processes to monitor and enhance program quality.
- Represents the Office of Continuing Education at university events, conferences, and in professional organizations to enhance the visibility and reputation of Hofstra University's continuing education programs.
- Identifies and pursues grants and other funding opportunities to support the expansion and sustainability of continuing education and workforce development initiatives.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in continuing education, workforce development, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Demonstrated experience in program development, budget management, and strategic planning within an educational or training environment.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and practices, with a track record of successfully developing and managing educational programs for diverse populations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Education, Higher Education Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Proven ability to secure grants and external funding to support educational programs.
