Position Overview
The Sr. Director of Asset Management will be responsible for building and managing the Asset Management Team at rPlus. This position is responsible for maximizing the value of the company's assets through strategic oversight, operational efficiency, and financial management. The Sr. Director will work closely with internal teams, external partners, investors, and regulatory agencies to ensure optimal performance, compliance, and long-term sustainability of the renewable energy portfolio. The Sr. Director will hire, support and mentor a strong team of high performing team members who are passionate about the renewable energy sector, with a focus on operational excellence and maximizing financial performance.
General Responsibilities
- Portfolio Management: Oversee the safety, performance, and profitability of the company's operating renewable energy asset portfolio, including monitoring KPIs, operational uptime, and financial returns
- Operational Oversight: Collaborate with operations teams to optimize the technical performance of assets, ensuring maximum availability, reliability, and efficiency across all projects
- Financial Management: Analyze and manage project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and P&L oversight for all renewable energy projects
- Contract Management: Manage contracts related to power purchase agreements (PPAs), operations and maintenance (O&M) services, debt and tax equity agreements, and regulatory compliance. Ensure all contracts are adhered to and renegotiate as needed
- Performance Optimization: Utilize data-driven analysis and industry best practices to identify and implement strategies to improve the performance of assets, reduce operational costs, and maximize energy output
- Risk Management: Assess operational and financial risks across the portfolio, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure that all assets meet regulatory and safety standards
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of asset managers, analysts, and technical staff to support the successful operation of the asset portfolio. Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
- Stakeholder Relations: Act as the primary liaison between investors, project partners, regulatory bodies, and internal teams. Communicate performance updates and key issues to stakeholders
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all assets are compliant with relevant local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred
- 10+ years of experience in asset management, operations, or financial management, preferably in the renewable energy sector, with demonstrated success building high performing teams
- Proven track record of managing large portfolios of renewable energy projects (solar, wind, storage, etc.)
- Experience in financial modeling, budgeting, and performance analysis for energy assets
Skills- Strong leadership and team management skills
- In-depth knowledge of renewable energy technology, regulations, and market trends
- Excellent financial acumen and experience with asset-level financial performance
- Proficient in data analysis tools and asset management software
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships
Additional Requirements:- Ability to travel as needed for site visits and stakeholder meetings
- Familiarity with renewable energy regulations and industry standards
- Experience with managing O&M contracts and long-term service agreement
