As a key member of the Growth division's senior management team, the Senior Director of Sales and Business Development will provide comprehensive leadership for Candid's overall sales strategy through key sales channel partners, day to day management of the sales team, and internal collaboration cross-divisionally.

Reporting to: Vice President of Growth

Supervises: Sales team

Schedule: 35-hour work week, Monday through Friday

Location: Flexible. In-person attendance is expected during our annual, weeklong all-staff summit. Additionally, participation for in-person meetings is expected at least once per year for most employees, and at least once per quarter for senior leaders.

Compensation: $125,000 - $150,000 base salary, plus eligibility for commission (the base salary range is for the NYC area and will be adjusted for other localities; additionally, factors like skills and experience will be considered).

Position Summary: Candid is the premier provider of data that powers analysis and decision making in the social sector. The portfolio of products includes Enterprise SaaS, API, and data services. The Senior Director of Business Development is responsible for developing and implementing growth strategies for the optimization and achievement of revenue goals in support of Candid's financial sustainability. He/She/They will identify business opportunities, build key customer relationships, close deals, and maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions. Additionally, they will oversee and guide Candid's sales department in their collective pursuit of new clients, client retention, and general account management. They will take the lead in opening new sales channels that expand the market for Candid's philanthropic data and its use by all parties serving the social sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning and execution
    • Identify key industry segments and emerging technologies that will increase the sales and adoption of Candid's data portfolio.
    • Inform & advise on overall products revenue strategy and business models.
    • Nurture and recruit value added reseller channels such as consortium and integration partners.
    • Evaluation and prioritization of industry vertical opportunities based on addressable market size, profitability, and go-to-market feasibility.
    • Develop new sales channels and markets, improve top of funnel leads activity, and reduce customer acquisition costs and sales cycles.
    • Establish all necessary sales models and protocols to serve new markets.
    • Capitalize on market trends and competitive threats and opportunities.
  • Team management and interdepartmental collaboration
    • Monitor sales team to establish team goals and sales targets for new, cross/upsell, and renewal business.
    • Manage key account relationships and meet and/or exceed revenue targets.
    • Work collaboratively on go-to-market strategies with Product and Product Marketing.
    • Analyze sales patterns to understand, react, and predict shifts in the client base that warrant the attention of the sales team and plan strategies to address the shifts.
  • Required Skills:

    • 10+ years high value deal sourcing, deal-structuring, managing, and growing large accounts & relationships. Non-profit vertical related experience a plus.
    • 10+ years of sales management; cultivating a dynamic team culture and high performance.
    • Proven track record of adapting to emerging market trends and successfully navigating technological inflection points that shift the status quo.
    • Experience in presenting to executives, board members, IT Management, and developers.
    • Adept at developing and maintaining effective standard operating procedures and reporting that optimizes team effectiveness.
    • Strong network of business and social sector community relationships.
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
    • Willingness to perform other duties and special projects as needed/requested.
