Job Summary

The Senior EHS Specialist will lead the implementation of EHS programs while maintaining and driving continuous improvement for existing programs. This includes conducting audits and evaluations to ensure regulatory and corporate compliance, as well as engaging with all personnel to foster a strong safety culture.

Essential Functions

Adherence to company policies is essential for all employees.

Primary focus areas will include:

  • Developing strategies for industrial hygiene exposure assessments and implementing programs to control occupational exposures, including noise, respirable dust, enzyme exposure, and ergonomics.
  • Managing contractor prequalification, onboarding, training, and inspection programs to ensure compliance with company EHS requirements. Actively participating in capital project design reviews to incorporate proper EHS considerations during design, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Driving and administering the site permit-to-work program, including but not limited to lockout/tagout, line break, and confined space entry.
  • Overseeing hazard communication programs related to raw materials and chemicals used on-site.
  • Driving and managing the machine guarding program.
  • Ensuring the site complies with all environmental regulatory requirements and permits, including but not limited to air emissions, waste management, spill prevention and control, groundwater protection, and stormwater management.
  • Identifying continuous improvement opportunities within EHS to enhance employee engagement, improve safety controls, and streamline inefficient or ineffective safety and environmental programs.
  • Supporting the EHS Manager in additional areas as needed.
  • Successfully passing all job-related tests and certifications required for working in a cGMP, quality environment, including inspections and GMP requirements. Annual re-qualification may be required based on job needs.

Education / Skills / Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in EHS program planning.
  • Experience with EHS compliance auditing or inspections.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel are a plus.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check in accordance with company standards.
