Job Summary:
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systmes manufactures and sells a broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance markets. We presently have a need for a Sr Electrical Engineer at our San Diego (Otay Mesa) location.
This position is responsible for planning, organizing and reviewing the performance of professional and/or technical staff performing engineering work related to the design of control electronics for motion control products.
Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops, and tests electrical equipment, components, circuits, or systems.
- Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to designs.
- Performs extensive testing and validation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards are achieved.
- Conducts research and studies new technologies to innovate and design solutions or products.
Qualifications:
- Required Education and Experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years experience
- Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree
- Discipline/Major: Electrical Engineering or other Engineering degree required

- Critical Professional Related Technical Skills; Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred experience for this role:
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical testing methods, data collection and analysis, equipment used in testing, and methods/processes of testing operations
- Experience with embedded C for motor control
- Knowledge of feedback devices for motor control such as hall sensors, resolvers and encoders
- Experience with multiple serial communications protocols such as SPI, I2C, RS232/RS485
- Gigabit Ethernet direct experience is a plus
- Strong research, design, and development knowledge within the electrical engineering discipline including the knowledge of control systems.
- Proficient with MATLAB and SIMULINK applications.
- Altium Designer skillset is a plus
