Job DescriptionAbout This Role Hearst Technology Services is looking for an individual who will help our organization achieve its technology vision. We are hiring a Senior Data Management Engineer who will work with teams in a fast-paced technology organization. As a Senior Data Manatement Engineer, you will support the analytic, technical and operational aspects of enterprise data management and governance. You will support data analysis and mining activities and act as a liaison to Information Technology teams, as well as providing ongoing support for data initiatives through master data management, data quality, data lineage, and cataloging. Required Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of Data Management, Data Governance, Data quality activities, tools, and frameworks, with experience reporting on large amounts of data while understanding the importance of meeting deliverables.
  • Experience implementing and using data management tools such as data quality, and business/technical metadata catalogs, with strong experience implementing master data management tools and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with master data management projects, preferably company or person disambiguation.
  • Ability to create datasets from a variety of disparate sources to further data governance initiatives and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing data mining on large datasets to supplement data governance quality improvement initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and Python, relational and non-relational databases, database structures, and unstructured databases, and preferably graph and other NoSQL databases.
  • Strong understanding of data quality frameworks within data lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated experience driving data quality initiatives and resolution.
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement, workflow, benchmarking and / or evaluation of business processes.
  • Ability to write various documents such as functional requirements, data quality rules, and policy definitions.
  • Ability to think conceptually and analytically with strong problem solving and decision- making skills.
  • Experience capturing and implementing detailed reporting requirements from business stakeholders.
  • Experience with presenting reporting analysis and interpretation for operational as well as business review and planning.
  • Excellent communications, collaboration, time/project management, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Ability to conduct high level project management-type functions for ongoing initiatives.
  • Experience in leading a team of data analysts and coordinating with data engineers.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, and statistical software such as SAS, SPSS, or R.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience documenting processes and procedures
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, or reporting analysis
  • 2+ years of Data Governance experience is a plus

The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York City, is $140,000-$150,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York City. If this role is open to candidates outside of New York City, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate's starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
