Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist

Job Summary:

The Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will lead and manage EHS compliance programs for a Level 1 facility, ensuring alignment with local, state, and federal regulations. This role requires a proactive approach to risk management, expertise in safety and environmental standards, and a commitment to continuous improvement in workplace safety and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

✅ Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

• Oversee compliance with OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Lead EHS audits, investigations, and root cause analyses for incidents, injuries, and environmental concerns.
• Manage recordkeeping, case management, and reporting for EHS compliance.
• Oversee air, water, and waste compliance assurance activities, including monitoring, inspections, and reporting.

✅ EHS Program Development & Implementation

• Develop and sustain safety management processes (ISO, OHSAS, VPP) to enhance workplace safety.
• Implement safety processes to identify, evaluate, and control hazards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing EHS metrics and KPIs.
• Create and deliver EHS training programs to ensure employee awareness and compliance.
• Align facility operations with company-wide EHS policies and best practices.

✅ Emergency Response & Leadership

• Serve as the Emergency Response Coordinator, working with emergency services and contractors as needed.
• Be available 24/7 for emergency response and incident management.
• Provide EHS leadership, mentorship, and technical support to teams across the facility.

Qualifications:

✔ Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or Health, Safety, and Environmental Management.

✔ Experience: 9+ years in industrial EHS compliance with a strong background in workplace safety.

✔ Certifications (Preferred): CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent professional certification.

✔ Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC, EPA, and best practices in hazard control and EHS program management.

✔ Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours or shifts as needed.
