Job Description :
Key Responsibilities:
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to understand the scope of work and required elements for accurate estimates.
- Analyze historical data from past purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity reports to inform unit and person-hour figures for the estimate.
- Provide technical insight into project risks and contract requirements to the lead estimator, assisting with final bid price approval. Ensure the estimate aligns with the project's schedule and cost targets.
- Perform a detailed takeoff of the scope of work, calculating material quantities based on engineering drawings.
- Collaborate with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders to discuss estimates, resolve issues, and refine cost projections.
- Handle additional tasks as directed by management.
- Monitor client addendums and notify the estimating team of any changes during the estimation process.
- Assist in reviewing design options, offering recommendations based on cost, engineering quality, and material availability.
- Work closely with the estimating team to conduct project hand-off meetings between the pursuit and project management teams.
- Research and recommend potential vendors and subcontractors to meet cost and pursuit objectives.
- Stay informed about the company's values, strategic plan, and corporate policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on estimating or cost control.
- Experience bidding on Public Works projects is required.
- Specialized knowledge in alternative construction delivery methods is preferred.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar Estimating Software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective support, research, and cost recommendations.
- Excellent technical writing abilities.
- Proven time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and lead estimating activities for large or complex projects.
