About the Role:

This critical role will be responsible for leading the estimating efforts on complex civil infrastructure projects, primarily within the NYC metro area. The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record of success in competitive bidding and a deep understanding of the intricacies of large-scale construction projects.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the preparation of comprehensive cost estimates for civil infrastructure projects, ranging $100-200 million+.
• Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to identify key cost drivers and potential risks.
• Develop detailed quantity take-offs and apply appropriate labor, material, and equipment rates.
• Utilize HCSS HeavyBid estimating software to create accurate and competitive bids.
• Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure project constructability.
• Prepare and present cost reports, bid summaries, and other relevant documentation to senior management.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gain a thorough understanding of project scope and conditions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, cost data, and estimating best practices.
• Manage and mentor junior estimating staff (if applicable).
• Contribute to the development and improvement of estimating procedures and tools.
• Work closely with project management teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and project profitability.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• Demonstrable experience working at or previously working at a competing medium to large-sized General Contractor.
• Extensive experience estimating civil infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on the NYC metropolitan area. Candidates without NYC metro area project experience will not be considered.
• Proven track record of success in estimating projects valued at $50 million to $100+ million.
• Proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid estimating software is required.
• Solid understanding of civil construction means and methods.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
