Senior Fiscal Manager - Slippery Rock University Foundation : Job Details

Position Overview

Slippery Rock University Foundation, Inc. is engaged in the search for its next Senior Fiscal Manager. This important role is integral to the financial strategy, management, and stability of the Foundation and its subsidiaries. The Senior Fiscal manager will collaborate with the Executive director, the Foundation Board, and other strategic partners as we grow into a new era of prosperity and impact for the University and our students.

Slippery Rock University Foundation, Inc. (and its subsidiaries) exist to generate, develop, and steward charitable gifts and other resources to support the priorities of Slippery Rock University and its students.

This senior role manages fiscal operations for the Slippery Rock University Foundation Inc., SRUF Holdings LLC, SRUF Campus Housing Inc., and SRUF Student Housing LLC. The position involves financial management, budgeting, and oversight of internal controls. It includes significant interaction with leadership and committees, particularly within the Foundation's Finance and Investment Committees.

Key Responsibilities

• Teamwork: Work directly with the Executive Director and various Committees to assess data, trends, and information to implement effective strategic financial decisions.
• Financial Oversight: Approve and coordinate approvals for expenditure requests. Ensure accurate posting of all accounting data (revenues, expenses, journal entries).
• Internal Controls: Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard financial accuracy.
• Financial Reporting: Manage monthly financial close and reconciliation. Prepare financial statements and reports for boards, staff, and external auditors.
• Budgeting: Draft and monitor the SRU Foundation's annual budget. Perform quarterly budget variance analysis.
• Audits: Coordinate with independent auditors on annual audits, tax filings (IRS Form 990), and financial reporting.
• Supervision: Direct and supervise the Fiscal Specialist's work, including gift entry and payment processing. Perform annual performance reviews for the Fiscal Specialist.
• Student Housing Management: Oversee finances for SRUF Student Housing LLC, including budgets, income/expense reports, and debt service payments.
• Payroll and Benefits: Manage payroll processes and employee benefit programs, including 401K contributions and insurance premiums.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; CPA preferred.
• Accounting experience in the non-profit, banking, or investment industry is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years of applicable experience.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Proficiency in financial applications (MIP and Raiser's Edge a plus).
• Strong organizational, communication, and confidentiality skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
