The Role – Front-End Developer:

WeTheHobby is seeking a tactical-minded Front-End Developer to join our Dev Team. Our Front-End Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining the front-end code for our various e-commerce platforms, their respective landing pages, and other customer-facing digital content, ensuring a seamless and engaging shopping experience for our customers that effectively brings the visual and interactive elements of our websites to life.

Our ideal candidate has a strong background in front-end development, has a strong passion for the intersection of design and development, and is eager to contribute to creating exceptional online experiences.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Custom Front-end Development

  • Create custom front-end solutions using React.js, JavaScript, and other relevant frameworks
  • Develop reusable components and front-end libraries for future use
  • Work closely with back-end/full-stack developers to integrate APIs and other services
  • Comfortable integrating with a variety of RESTful APIs, socket-based communications, and GraphQL

Website Design and Development

  • Design and develop visually appealing and highly functional web applications focused on driving sales and enhancing user engagement using JavaScript (Node, React), HTML, and CSS with component libraries such as MUI or Bootstrap
  • Experience designing components in Figma or equivalent design tools.
  • Convert designs into responsive, cross-browser compatible front-end interfaces
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to create engaging features and services

E-Commerce Development

  • Integrate essential e-commerce functionalities such as BigCommerce and Stripe
  • Optimize e-commerce platform for speed, customer experience, and sales conversions
  • Manage e-commerce settings, product configuration, and navigation

Desired Skillset:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, required
  • 5+ years of professional experience with front-end development
  • Strong Proficiency in JavaScript and familiarity with modern JavaScript libraries and frameworks (e.g., React.js, Angular, Vue.js), and Express and SocketIo
  • Proficiency with Wix and can create and customize Wix templates
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment with complete ownership
  • Experience with code quality, continuous delivery, and automated testing.
  • Experience working with a hybrid workforce
  • Comfortable working in an agile environment
  • Experience building scalable, user-friendly web applications
  • Familiar with C# and capable of quickly learning backend frameworks

In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual salary range for this position based upon location in Rochester, NY, and experience is $90,000 - $110,000 annually.
