Description
Hitachi Global Air Power US, LLC has an opening for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Michigan City, Indiana.
Responsible for Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering/Design activities and integrate (SQDCM) EH&S, Quality, Delivery, Product Cost and Inventory goals. Improve manufacturing processes and procedures, aiming at lowering manufacturing costs. Support both tactical and strategic goals and objectives through implementation of lean principles of manufacturing, i.e., 6S, 5Whys, Kaizen, VSM, Mistake Proofing, etc. Creation of documentation and improvement of manufacturing methods, implementation of capital equipment and advancement of manufacturing technology. Develop floor layouts for existing and future project/processes in AutoCAD, develop designs for returnable racks, fixtures, and tools. Lead root cause analysis of quality and build issues for assigned manufacturing areas of responsibility. Participate in new product launch working with NPD team for all new launches. Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to detect and correct potential safety issues on the shop floor. Provide make-versus-buy mechanical engineer analyses on products and processes. Perform capacity and factory layout analyses to meet business demand. Audit and approve ECOs for new and existing products and process. Internal logistics engineering, production and capacity scheduling. Responsible for tool selection and procurement. Responsible for cost estimates, time standards, technical support of shop floor. Responsible for specification, justification, and implementation of capital equipment. Plan sequence of operations and write/maintain Work Center Instructions. Manufacture engineering electrical wire equipment software program development and management. Master data setup and management in SAP Production Planning and EWM environment.
Must possess at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field and at least 10 years of progressive experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or in a related role. Must also possess the following: at least 10 years of experience with AutoCAD; at least 2 years of experience managing engineering projects; at least 2 years of experience in new product introduction support; at least 2 years of experience with SAP EWM; at least 2 years of experience with 3D CAD Package; and at least 1 year of experience with electrical wire equipment software program development.
