Overview The Senior Marina Specialist provides safety and security of all property and guests of the Corpus Christi Marina complex. Essential functions of the position include the operation and maintenance of a 29-foot work boat and assisting Marina customers and guests with boat slip assignments, payment information, and serves as shift supervisor when necessary. Additional duties include the daily maintenance of facilities, vehicles and marina docks and ensure all safety requirements and procedures are being followed.
Responsibilities Operates Marina work boat and tow vessels within the Marina complex; assist with towing of vessels in distress, retrieve persons in water as necessary Responds to medical emergency calls from Corpus Christi Police Department, Corpus Christi Fire Department, and the general public Patrols inside Marina breakwater to ensure all safety procedures and laws are being enforced Utilizes both electrical and gas-powered de-watering pumps on vessels taking on water Serve as shift supervisor after hours and weekends and ensure staff complete routine assignments; cover office operation after hours/weekends, handle monies, receive rental payment from customers and log all transactions Answers questions from the general public and Marina customers Prepares and executes work order requests and ensures all vessels are safely moored at Marina docks Completes routine checks of safety equipment, boats and vehicles; fuel vessels ensuring proper safety procedures are followed Interacts with the general public and provides information about Marina usage and boat safety procedures; provides navigation information of Marina/Corpus Christi Bay/waterways and provide direction for tourists on City attractions Provides hurricane preparedness information to boaters on how to properly prepare vessels for any such event Conducts safety inspections of Marina docks and facilities, monitor facilities for cleanliness, inspect all docks/piers, ensure all safety equipment and gates are in working order, inspects Marina fuel station equipment for proper operation, checks for safety hazards and ensures they are resolved Performs minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting of Marina boats and facilities Provides administrative support to include the execution of lease agreements, collect payments, make deposits, maintain cash logs and reconcile transactions, process billing for Marina services, provides rates for customers, assigns boat slips for visitors and permanent vessel mooring, answers office phones Ensures all commercial vendors obtain proper permits to operate on City premises Assist with special events as needed Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma / GED Five (5) years of experience Must be able to swim and perform marlinspike seamanship (Nautical Knot Tying) Must be able to perform minor maintenance repairs to equipment, facilities, and Marina grounds Must have experience operating a twin screw diesel powered boat
Licenses and Certifications Required A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire First-Aid/CPR Certification within six (6) months from date of hire

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
