Job Description

Designs and analyses mechanical systems, equipment and packaging. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support employees in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation.

Responsibilities

• Practices and mentors in the use of company concepts, policies and procedures, familiar with and follows standard practices. Applies functional expertise routinely on the job.

• Receives general direction and exercises considerable discretion as to work details, and contributes to the definition and timely achievement of overall project goals.

• Participates or leads in efforts to define new components, products or processes; Identifies and solves technical challenges, implements improvements to work processes.

• Creates potentially patentable components for systems, or processes. Designs, plans and executes project related tasks.

• Designs and executes experiments to test hypothesis related to project outcomes, and applies advanced scientific knowledge to projects; determines priorities for experiments.

• Independently designs and executes experiments. Utilizes DOE as appropriate.

• Assures experimental quality through sound, independent, experimental design.

• Participates or leads cross-functional technical teams. Establishes interfaces across other organizational groups.

• Provides technical direction and feedback to others, teaches others and troubleshoots problems.

• Participates in project planning, process updates and contributes to experimental design.

• Prepares and delivers presentations of project results to others; presents data to larger and more diverse audiences. Monitors work to ensure quality, and continuously promote Quality First Time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s Degree or equivalent in a directly related discipline plus 8 years

Minimum of related experience OR

MS degree in directly related discipline + 4 years of related experience required OR

PhD degree in directly related discipline + 2 years of related experience required.

• Demonstrates success in technical proficiency, creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought. Expert knowledge of engineering principles and concepts.

Proven key skills

1. Computer aided design experience preferably Solidworks

2. Sound hands on experience of creating drawings and a thorough understanding of Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

3. Experience of change management using product life cycle tools in preferably medical devices or any other highly regulated industry

4. Excellent analytical skills in regards to design calculations such as tolerance stackups, torque calculations etc

5. Hands on experience with risk assessment and excellent problem solving skills such as DFMEA, root cause identification, pugh analysis etc

this position is 100% onsite - local candidates only will be considered. Out of state candidates may apply but must relocate themselves to the Tucson, AZ area - there is no relocation assistance
