Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Duchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking a full-time Senior Medical Assistant to support our Shirley site. Renders assistance to patients and professional staff, within an assigned unit of the Center or authorized community site, in support of medical care as directed by the nursing and medical staff and pursuant to the objectives and policies of the Center. Performs job duties in compliance with systems and job specific standards. Performs any additional jobs or duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Completes or assists in the completion of various patient forms such as insurance claims, disability forms, medication approvals, etc.
  • Prepare exam room and any needed equipment and assists/chaperones during examination and treatment of patients.
  • Coordinates and facilitates the orientation and training of new Medical Assistants.
  • Responsible for working with Nurse Manager and Operations Manager to coordinate clinical workflow and assist other Medical Assistants with processes.
  • Perform in-house labs, perform quality control and maintenance of equipment in accordance with organizational protocols.
  • Cleans and sterilizes all equipment and logs according to organizational policy and/or manufacturers guidelines.
  • Keeps clinical area stocked and in good order. Maintains stock of laboratory supplies. Assures that all dated material is kept current and disposes of outdated supplies.
  • Perform basic clerical work in service area; answer phones in appropriate manner, communicate problems/concerns to nurse; handle telephone inquiries.
  • Responsible for performing, training, and documenting CLIA controls
  • Other related duties as necessary and assigned.
