  • Salary: $77,000 - $85,000 per year
  • Benefits: 75% health and dental coverage, HRA reimbursement, FSA, 403B retirement plan, 3% SEP IRA contributions
  • A unique benefit: RestoRation (in addition to paidtime off): 2 set weeks off annually paid time off and 2 weeks closed to the public for organizational reflection/work completion.

Network-wide Green Team alumni are encouraged to apply.Location: Hybrid; Programs will happen in Fall River and New Bedford; GWSC's office is currently in New BedfordAbout Groundwork Southcoast (GWSC): GWSC is an environmental justice (EJ) organization focused on investing in the leadership of youth and adult residents from EJ communities in Fall River and New Bedford through leadership development, workforce programs, and environmental stewardship. We prioritize community-driven action that addresses issues of environmental, racial, and social justice and equity.Position Summary: The Senior Organizational Director will play a pivotal role in advancing GWSC's mission through both operational and programmatic leadership. This role will focus on strengthening our internal systems, driving organizational growth, expanding fundraising and grantmaking ability, and ensuring the sustainability of high-impact programs. We are seeking a leader who has demonstrated passionate, results-driven expertise in strategic planning, program management, fundraising, grantmaking, community engagement, and deep commitment to environmental and social justice and equity.Key Responsibilities:Operational Excellence (40%):
    • Development & Fundraising: Lead efforts to expand GWSC's fundraising capacity, including managing grant cycles, donor engagement, communication strategies, and developing individual, unrestricted, corporate giving programs.
    • Financial & Administrative Management: Oversee budget development and management, ensuring transparent financial tracking and reporting with the Executive Director and Finance Director.
    • Work with the Executive Director to identify opportunities for new staffing needs and organizational expansion, with a focus on sustainable growth.
    • Maintain and refine operational systems to ensure alignment with the organization's mission and values.Programmatic Excellence (30%):
      • Youth and Young Adult Workforce Development: Support the expansion and scaling of workforce programs such as the Green Team (ages 14-21) and Green Corps (ages 18-26), ensuring they are inclusive, impactful, and responsive to community needs.
      • Adult EJ Resident Workforce Development: Foster leadership within the community by investing in EJ residents, particularly those from historically marginalized backgrounds, through paid leadership teams and workforce development initiatives.
      • Ensure alumni are supported and engaged as part of an ongoing community development strategy.
      • Continuously assess and improve program systems, providing staff training and development to enhance the effectiveness of community programs.
      • Explore building capacity to launch additional community engagement and youth programs efforts including ensuring the depth and breadth of outreach and engagement align to deepen leadership and to build long-term engagement into workforce programs such as: Green Beginnings (ages 6-12) and Green Explorers (middle school).Groundwork Southcoast Coordination (30%):
        • Serve as a key member of GWSC's Director team, co-leading organizational development, and mission achievement.
        • Ensure effective internal communications and coordination for programmatic and operational for alignment.
        • Develop and lead regular check-ins with direct reports (3-4 team members) to provide support and ensure progress.
        • Represent GWSC in meetings and public forums, advocating for environmental justice and community-driven change.Qualifications:-15 years of experience demonstrated experience in the key responsibilities above and any combination of education and/or experience; including related experience is welcome:
          • Strong dedication to racial, environmental, and social justice, focusing on uplifting historically underrepresented and marginalized communities.
          • Lived experience in or strong ties to environmental justice (EJ) communities, particularly those impacted by climate change, food insecurity, and environmental justice issues.
          • Ability to transform strategic ideas into actionable plans and successfully execute them to align with organizational goals.
          • Expertise in engaging diverse community members, including youth, young adults, EJ residents, and stakeholders.
          • Strong communication and relationship-building skills to foster collaboration and community-driven change.
          • Comfortable working outdoors year-round and engaging in physically demanding tasks, including lifting items weighing 40+ lbs.
          • Collaborate effectively in a hybrid work environment.
          • A valid driver's license and a safe driving record. Ability to transport youth and staff as needed for program activities.
          • Ability to track and measure program outcomes both qualitatively and quantitatively to assess effectiveness and inform improvements.
