As a Senior Tax Analyst in the Income and Payroll areas, you will support all aspects of corporate income and payroll taxes, for all jurisdictions in which Wegmans operates. You will provide tax research, analysis, reporting, and project coordination to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws.

What will I do?

  • Manage and develop a team of employees, building trusted relationships and providing the resources, feedback, and development opportunities they need to be successful
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of various aspects of Wegmans financial reporting for income taxes (ASC 740) including preparation of corporate tax accruals, deterred tax calculations, Fin 48 reserves and related footnotes for external financial statements, effectively communicate with all levels of management
  • Prepare federal and state income & payroll tax returns for legal entities within the company, compile tax information from various systems, analyze results to provide accurate information, assist with completion of tax filings
  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners, use expertise and knowledge to evaluate tax implications and risk of proposed business initiatives, advise on process improvement and ensure compliance
  • Gather data, perform research and analysis during audits, ensure accurate reporting, identify potential challenges, advise on appropriate tax alternatives
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for information and analysis, keep projects on schedule, communicate status and challenges, recommend solutions
  • Stay up to date with changes in tax laws, identify potential impact to Wegmans and work with management to design and implement changes

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
  • 3 or more years of accounting and corporate tax experience
  • Possess understanding of accounting for corporate taxes and the tax code, technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance as it relates to income or payroll tax
  • Ability to think creatively when new business changes or laws are proposed to enable operations to remain cutting edge while minimizing the tax exposure
  • Advanced technical research skills with the ability to obtain accurate conclusions and make appropriate recommendations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience
  • Knowledge of multi state, multi-business tax complexities
  • CPA: Certified Public Accountant
  • Experience supervising and delegating tasks
