Superior Metals Manufacturing is currently looking for a Senior Production Planner to join our team!As a Senior Production Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating the preparation and shipment of outgoing alloy materials, ensuring that all required procedures, testing, inspections, and paperwork are thorough and accurate. You will review alloy melt plans and collaborate with various teams to ensure timely deliveries, while managing multiple aspects of production, including alloy processing and revert ratios. Additionally, you will act as a key backup to the Production Planning Manager, taking charge of critical planning and coordination duties when needed.Location: Chittenango, NYEmployment Type: Full-TimeSalary: $85k+, but will be evaluated depending on candidates' knowledge, skills, and abilities.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Coordination & Scheduling:
- Review alloy melt plans to determine new finished goods item requirements.
- Oversee the creation of finished goods items and initiate job creation based on the alloy melt plan schedule, ensuring alignment with customer requirements.
- Prioritize and coordinate alloy operations to meet customer order promise dates.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of Oracle finished goods Master Items, Bills of Materials, and Routings.
Customer Order Management:
- Review customer purchase orders to ensure compliance with alloy specifications, diameter, revert ratios, and special sampling requirements.
- Analyze customer inquiries and provide the Sales team with information necessary for accurate quotations aligned with manufacturing capabilities and capacity.
- Implement order modifications based on internal or customer-driven changes, ensuring WIP material compatibility.
Logistics & Shipping Coordination:
- Review customer purchase orders for freight terms, packing, shipping windows, and carrier requirements.
- Perform Oracle shipping transactions for sales recognition.
- Secure freight carriers and forwarders to ensure timely shipping based on sales plans.
- Develop and maintain daily shipping reports to communicate priorities to manufacturing.
Production & Revert Management:
- Analyze and determine casting revert requirements, ensuring accurate demand communication with casting sites.
- Lead Line of Balance meetings to address material supply issues, review melt plans, and align supply vs. demand.
- Prepare and lead daily production meetings with detailed reports on WIP status, chemistry, and melt review acceptance.
Cross-functional Support:
- Back up the Production Planning Manager as needed, including leading daily production meetings, building weekly sales plans, and overseeing daily “Line of Balance” meetings.
- Ensure smooth internal operations and accurate record-keeping.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support production by proactively identifying and resolving issues impacting scheduling and order fulfillment.
- Work overtime as required to meet business needs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical field is preferred or 5+ years of related experience in production planning.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat DC.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Oracle ERP, specifically within Work in Process, Bills of Materials, Shipping, and Inventory modules.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiency.
