Under the direction of the Director the Senior Professional Academic Advisor Transfer SPAA T serves as the primary resource for enrolled students on matters of transfer to other educational institutions The SPAA T provides academic and transfer advisement and counseling services as appropriate The SPAA T assists students in reaching their goals by helping them gain knowledge of self as well as awareness of College and community resources to meet their specific needs The SPAA T will be responsible for working with a designated caseload of identified students enrolled in a variety of programs The SPAA T is responsible for working with these students at their initial registration at the College informing students of academic support services and strategies available tracking academic progress and explaining options to students who are struggling The SPAA T will work closely with Academic Success and Access Programs Community Standards and Counseling and other existing support services and offices when developing referral plans for student success The SPAA T will collaborate with Student Affairs to encourage student engagement in activities The SPAA T will coordinate with Director and campus offices to promote transfer services and activities to the community and external public and work closely with other Institutions on any matters involving transfers of students FLCC is committed to diversity equity and inclusion and strives to provide an environment that embodies these principles We strive to attract talented personnel from diverse backgrounds and traditions particularly of race and ethnicity gender gender identity sexual orientation nationality culture religion worldview and physical and mental abilities As such applicants from historically under represented groups are highly encouraged to apply Qualifications Educational Background Bachelor of Art or Science degree required in Education Social Work Human Services or related field Masters degree in related fields mentioned preferredExperience Minimum of four years professional experience in academic advising student support or working with students required preferably in a community college setting Minimum of two years focusing on transfer processes preferred Experience in a community college preferredSpecial Skills Ability to work with a diverse student population to provide a variety of academic advising career and transfer advising with knowledge and understanding of student development theory and practice required Ability to identify academic needs and offer solutions with professional oral and written communications skills and human relations skills Excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate records required Ability work respectfully with confidential information and make referrals as appropriate Work with Starfish Retention Solution Software or other platforms strongly preferred MS Office and database management skills required Familiarity with computerized student information systems required Ellucian preferredEssential Functions Academic AdvisementAssist students with career and transfer planningProvide academic advisement to students about academic requirements and selection of coursesMaintain accurate records on each advisee in appropriate systems;
