PTS is looking for a Project Manager to oversee the management, coordination, and administration of New Generation Services (NGS) projects, guiding them from initial concept through planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, performance testing, and initial operations, to final prime contract close-out. Provide strong leadership to develop and sustain a high-performing project team. Take full responsibility for project execution, ensuring delivery aligns with contract requirements, quality and safety standards, and meets both customer and Mitsubishi Power performance expectations.
Essential Duties:
- Oversees a single project or serves as the Deputy Project Manager, taking responsibility for the project team and successful delivery of project outcomes.
- Facilitate clear communication of project health and status with project teams, stakeholders, sponsors, customers, and senior management.
- Document lessons learned and after-action reviews, providing summary briefings as needed.
- Conduct risk, issue, and opportunity identification through detailed contract analysis.
- Collaborate with project or program leadership to develop and implement mitigation strategies.
- Develop the project baseline income statement in coordination with estimating and cost control teams, based on GOA-approved estimates, pricing, and DOR splits. Regularly provide cost reporting and analysis.
- Oversee the creation of an integrated project schedule, including the critical path for end-to-end tasks and activities. Ensure resources and dependencies are clearly identified and that assigned resources execute as planned. Provide regular tracking and reporting, assisting with recovery plans when necessary.
- Expand project scope, develop change order technical and pricing strategies, and prepare detailed change order execution plans.
- Lead others and direct all phases of assigned projects through utilization of program and project methodologies, systems, tools, and quality standards.
- Provides performance assessments to management promptly and helps address and resolve conflicts within the project team. Manages and controls changes to projects through formal change control processes, encompassing requirements, configuration, performance metrics, costs, schedules, organizational structures, and technology environments (e.g., release schedules, infrastructure updates).
- Takes on additional tasks or assignments as needed and offers suggestions to enhance the execution of NGS projects.
- Actively seeks opportunities to expand personal knowledge of project management best practices. Promotes and participates in the development and implementation of new processes or improvements to existing ones, contributing to the continuous advancement of the program/project management discipline.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Monitors all project activities, including schedules, expenditures, and related tasks, to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of assigned NGS projects. Takes proactive steps to meet project objectives and schedules, ensuring work remains within budget and adheres to specifications. Alerts the Director of Project Management to any issues that could significantly impact timelines, costs, or quality.
- Establishes strong partnerships with other departments and organizations by identifying dependencies and assessing potential collaboration opportunities. Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with all stakeholders.
- Facilitates regular project status meetings with owners, owner representatives, vendors, subcontractors, and other project participants. Prepares and distributes meeting minutes detailing agreements, task assignments, and relevant updates.
- Conducts internal team meetings to share essential company and project information. Ensures all team members are aware of policies, expectations, and critical details related to project execution, particularly regarding safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Reviews subcontractor and vendor invoices throughout the project lifecycle, approving payments or coordinating with Supply Chain Management to negotiate adjustments as needed.
- Prepares and submits change orders for approval, adhering to Levels of Authority (LOA) guidelines.
- Completes all project close-out documentation, including warranty submissions, affidavits, record drawings, final retainage payments, releases, and financial records. Finalizes negotiations on claims, extra work invoices, and purchase/change orders related to additional work.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineer or similar field
- 4+ years managing power generation projects
- PMP preferred
