Senior Roadway Project Engineer, Transportationms consultants, inc.Raleigh, North CarolinaWe are looking for a talented and dedicated Roadway Project Engineer to complement our growing Transportation team for immediate employment in our Raleigh, North Carolina office. The position will involve working directly with staff including engineers, technicians and administrative staff on development and execution of highway engineering projects. You will have a unique opportunity to work with many different ms team members within the Transportation Business Unit in a truly collaborative team environment helping to shape the future of our transportation services.About the Transportation Business UnitThe Transportation Business Unit provides transportation engineering services for all project types and scopes, from the largest interstate systems to local municipality roads. Some of the services provided include roadway and intersection design, corridor improvements, bridge replacement and rehabilitation, and environmental documentation. Our traffic, highway, structural, and environmental planning engineers work collaboratively to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and long-term transportation solutions.What You'll Do:The primary focus of the role will be as follows:
- Perform roadway design and project plan reviews for a variety of transportation projects
- Lead project designs from start to finish, and perform technical internal reviews to ensure plan quality
- Provide feedback and mentorship to junior design staff
- Manage day to day activities of transportation projects and report progress to transportation leaders
What You'll Bring:Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or University is required, or equivalent experience
- Experience with professional design and preparation of plans for a variety of project types ranging from interstate to local road/street projects
- Successful task and project management experience is a plus
- Experience in a mentorship or supervisory role is a plus
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
Knowledge and Skills
- Alternative Delivery Project experience is a plus
- Familiarity with AASHTO and DOT policies and procedures, NCDOT familiarity is a plus
- MicroStation and OpenRoads experience preferred
- Knowledge of traffic engineering is a plus
