Job Title: Senior Salesforce Applications Engineer (Higher Education Focus) Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Salesforce Applications Engineer with a passion for higher education to join our dynamic team. This role will work closely with the Lead Salesforce Technical Architect to implement and maintain our Salesforce ecosystem, with a focus on Experience Cloud, Education Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Service Cloud. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical expert, capable of translating architectural designs into functional solutions and collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. We are currently in production with Salesforce across two orgs and Marketing Cloud and plan to roll out other Salesforce functionality within the next 6-12 months. Initial Term: 6-12 months Physical Location: Mostly offsite Telework (90%), Onsite - Chicago as-needed
- Translate architectural designs into functional Salesforce applications across multiple clouds (Experience, Education, Marketing, Service).
- Develop custom code (Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components) and configurations to meet specific business requirements.
- Implement integrations with AppExchange solutions (Linvio, Mogli, Saleswings, etc...) and external systems (Oracle Campus Solutions and other ERP or SAAS applications) using Boomi or other middleware.
- Possess deep technical knowledge of Salesforce platform features, APIs, and development best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Salesforce applications and integrations.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards.
- Work closely with the Lead Salesforce Technical Architect to understand and implement architectural designs.
- Collaborate with business users to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure solutions meet their needs.
- Partner with other IT teams to coordinate deployments and ensure smooth integration with existing systems.
- Experience Cloud: Build and maintain digital experiences for prospective and current students.
- Education Cloud [CM1] : Implement solutions to streamline student lifecycle management, recruitment, and engagement.
- Marketing Cloud: Develop and execute targeted communication campaigns for student recruitment, engagement, and alumni relations.
- Service Cloud: Configure and customize solutions to streamline student support services, and issue resolution.
- Stay abreast of the latest Salesforce releases, features, and best practices.
- Proactively identify opportunities for optimization and automation of Salesforce processes.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Salesforce Developer or in a similar role, with proven experience in multiple Salesforce clouds (Experience, Education, Marketing, Service).
- Salesforce certifications (e.g., Platform Developer I or II) are desirable but not needed.
- Experience in the higher education sector is a significant advantage.
- Strong programming skills in Apex, Visualforce, and Lightning Web Components.
- Experience with Salesforce APIs, data integration tools (Boomi), and AppExchange solutions (Linvio, Mogli, Saleswings, etc...).
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
