- Molecule Design: Undertake rational design of molecules by performing structural analyses, recommending changes to improve interactions, specificity, stability, and manufacturability.
- Assay Implementation: Design and conduct binding and biophysical assays to assess the impact of mutations on protein structure and function.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with Process Development and Analytical Development teams to ensure high-quality protein expression, purification, and characterization.
- Program Leadership: Lead cross-functional programs, act as the representative for Protein Engineering, align and organize efforts across different teams, and ensure project goals are achieved.
- Data Presentation: Regularly summarize and present data to stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making to advance programs.
Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree: PhD in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Protein Biophysics, or a related field with over 5 years of relevant experience, or MSc with over 8 years focusing on protein engineering, particularly in multispecific therapeutics.
- Expertise and Experience: Proven track record in designing experiments, leading programs, and enabling teams to meet project deadlines.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in protein structure-function analyses, computational modeling (e.g., Schrodinger, MOE, Rosetta), and lab-based techniques.
- Innovative Design: Ability to apply structural insights to enhance therapeutic properties, including binding affinity, function, and developability.
- Laboratory Skills: Proficient in protein expression, purification, and quality assessment with familiarity with biophysical characterization techniques (e.g., analytical SEC, DSF, DLS) and binding interaction analyses (e.g., BLI, SPR).
- Leadership and Training: Experienced in training junior scientists and leading cross-functional programs in fast-paced environments.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for effectively conveying findings and updates to various teams.
