Rowe Price is looking for an experienced Sr Software Engineer to join our team and help engineer scalable cloud-based data process solutions incorporating large data sets for Global Trading and our Investments Operations business partners. This includes modernizing our current processing by incorporating APIs and cloud technologies as well as working closely with our trading partners to understand new workflows and provide daily support. The ideal candidate is someone who combines ambition with humility and is happy to let their performance do the talking. As a key contributor throughout the entire development cycle, you will be required to think outside the box and bring cutting edge technology in-house.Does this sound like you?? A proponent of strong collaborative software engineering techniques and methods: agile development, continuous integration, code review or pairing, unit testing, refactoring and related approaches.In this role you will design, develop, modify, adapt and implement short- and long-term solutions to information technology needs through new and existing applications, systems, databases and applications infrastructure. You will review and interpret system requirements and business processes as well as code, test, debug and implement software solutions. You will also:Lead projects or work streamsBe accountable for your work and sometimes others, provide process and standards advice in your area of specializationWork independentlyServe as a resource for colleagues with less experienceYou will be responsible for:Performing as a domain expert in one or more parts of the software lifecycle (e.g., coding, testing, deployment). Leads significant pieces of development within the development lifecycleContributing to the development of standard methodologies within your groupLeading code reviews and actively participates in providing feedback on others' designs/codeBeing accountable for technical debt in your own softwareLeading a small project team, as requiredTaking control of complex problems and step through them in a rational wayMaking tactical vs. strategic trade-offsBeing flexible in your thinking; able to evolve a solution when additional information or ideas are presentedMentoring junior members of the teamIdentifying when junior engineers need help and providing it in a positive way that promotes confidence.Actively helping team members/make suggestions to improve practices.Providing on-call support as neededBusiness KnowledgeAble to work directly with business partnersDecisions show a focus on current and future business priorities, together with fiscal responsibilityCan articulate business needs and translate them into technology solutionsRequirementsBS or MS Degree in a technical discipline and 5+ years of demonstrated hands-on software engineering experience. Additional experience may substitute for degree.Experience coding in C#/.Net (.Net Core preferred)Experience developing (or desire to learn) APIs is required.Knowledge of SQL, Relational Database Concepts and Stored ProceduresStrong Test-Driven Development and desire to write simple, adaptive and iterative code.Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced, Agile team environmentEnthusiasm for learning & results orientedIn-depth knowledge and expertise in your job discipline and working knowledge of related disciplinesStays up to date with new technologiesShows dedication to quality by implementing suitable software using unit/integration and acceptance testing at the time of feature developmentDevelops data models or schemas from scratch and knows of key concepts such as ACID, Normalization, and TransactionsDebugs large components with limited assistance and assists other engineersDesigns and develops practical APIs and abstractions.Preferred Qualifications:Experience building applications and deploying to public or private clouds, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or similar providersReporting and Analytics experienceExperience working in financial services/asset managementFINRA RequirementsFINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.Work FlexibilityThis role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to three days per week from home.Base salary ranges:$144,000.00 - $247,000.00 for the location of: California, New York$127,000.00 - $217,500.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C$115,500.00 - $197,000.00 for the location of: Colorado, Maryland, Washington and all other US locationsPlacement within the range provided above is based on the individual's relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package.
