Welty does much more than construct and build great projects and buildings, we build relationships - with our clients, employees and the communities they serve. • Roles: o As a Senior Substation Engineer, you will lead projects utilizing a team of substation engineers and designers to provide design services for our utility clients. • Responsibilities: o Lead substation projects with a team of designers and drafters o Prepare substation design packages including physical design (plan and section views, grounding details and layouts, control building layouts, lightning protection, conduit plans, and associated bills of materials) o Prepare substation design packages including protection and control design (one lines, three lines, AC schematics, DC schematics, SCADA systems, and equipment and panel wiring) o Perform calculations and studies as required o Prepare Equipment specifications o Coordinate design activities with civil/structural teams o Verify projects are following all applicable client standards o Perform QA/QC on design packages o Perform site visits when necessary o Interface with client's engineering groups and project management team to provide regular and timely updates o Lead and mentor junior team members o Assist with the preparation of proposals o Consult on internal projects when requested by the PM, Portfolio Manager, or Executive Vice President o Provide technical assistance to the Welty Project Management Team when requested o Support business development and marketing when requested • Expectations: o Adherence to Welty Core Values, OPTIC (Openness, Passion, Teamwork, Integrity, Customer Centricity) o Share knowledge and train oncoming Project Engineers o Establish trust and healthy rapport with client and contract engineer firms o Collaborate with Management Team to foster a productive and encouraging environment • Education/Experience: o Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at an ABET accredited university o 8+ years of experience as a Substation Engineer o PE license strongly preferred • Travel o 10-15% travel (project specific)
