TITLE: Sr. Procurement/Supply Chain Specialist

TYPE: Contract/Contract to Hire

LOCATION: Mesquite, TX

PAY: $47 - $53/hr

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a Senior Procurement/Supply Chain Specialist for a premier defense manufacturing company that is opening a new production location. This role is responsible for negotiating terms and agreements with suppliers to prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders. This would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in purchasing looking to further their career in the DOD space.

  • Develops and executes sourcing strategy, evaluates and recommends suppliers, and negotiates contracts for assigned categories or departments
  • Develops and distributes RFPs/RFQs and collects bids
  • Evaluates proposals/quotes based on quality, cost, or other criteria and recommends suppliers
  • Works with selected suppliers to develop mutually acceptable contractual agreements
  • Supports tactical purchasing operations, such as the issuance of purchase orders or the payment of invoices
  • Ensures that all procurement activities comply with internal policies and external regulations
  • Coordinates with Planners and Schedulers to achieve optimal manufacturing supply chain processes

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree in Business Administration OR equivalent years of experience
  • 5-7+ years of procurement, material, or supply chain management experience.
  • Prior DOD procurement experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of legal aspects of purchasing/procurement as required by federal, state and local levels of public laws and regulations, UCC, DFARS.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of purchase order documentation (single/sole source, source selection, price/cost analysis contract flow down, cost accounting standards, certifications etc.) and its significance within the procurement process.
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiations of major procurements/prime contracts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, organizational, oral and written communication skills. Must be able to identify and resolve issues/problems in a timely manner and develop alternative solutions.
  • Excellent computer skills. Must be proficient with MS Office, including the use of MRP systems and electronic purchasing modules.
  • Experience in a start-up environment desired.
