Custom Job Purpose:This position exists to perform work directly with the Director of Payroll. Assists in payroll functions, corrections, monitoring, and updating automated records and procedures. May include supervisory responsibilities in assisting the administration of payroll for the school district.Essential Functions of this JobSupervises and reviews the preparation and maintenance of payroll records created by payroll staff. Verify for accuracy any payroll data and other information for salary formulation received from Human Resources. Works closely with Human Resources and employees to resolve issues. Research, analyze, document, and writes up Florida Retirement system Fatal Errors for data input into the system. Research, analyze, document, and writes up adjustments for withholding calculations as it relates to the Department of Revenue's Child Support Withholding, u00A0calculation rules for bonuses, lump sum payments and distribution of terminal payments. Analyzes, tracks, and collects on terminated employee claims via letters and phone contact. Prepares and reports unemployment employee tax information to the Florida Department of Revenue. Maintains accurate reports for teacher lead monies as it relates to including the payments on W2s. Maintains accurate reports for Provisional Substitutes for transfers to Regular teaching status or separation. Calculates new Provisional Substitutes salaries for equalized payments. Works closely with the Director of Payroll to create procedures for special activity reports. Supervises all summer school payments and reports.Works with the SAP Business Analyst team to recommend changes for the Payroll Department automated system.Serves as liaison between Payroll, Human Resources, Benefits and the SAP Business team. Trains and assists Payroll Department staff in maintenance of accurate automated payroll records.u00A0Communicates effectively with other departments, schools, employees, state agencies and vendors by phone and email. Secures printing of various forms and schedules, assists Director of Payroll and Specialist-Payroll Accountant as needed.u00A0Non-Essential Functions of this JobPerforms other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Considerable knowledge of payroll systems, policies and administration.u00A0 Considerable knowledge of modernu00A0office practices and procedures. Proficient in the use of the computer and other office machines.u00A0 Ability tou00A0set priorities and manage time. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.u00A0 Ability to performu00A0well under the pressures of deadlines.u00A0 Ability to direct employees and step in and complete assigned duties when necessary. Bilingual/biliterate preferred.Education, Experience and/or Certification/License RequirementsGraduation from an accredited high school or completion of GED.u00A0Three years' experience in a payroll capacity in the public or private sector is preferred.Work Context:Requires sitting and some standing, walking and moving about to coordinate work. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires work with both internal and external contacts, and with the public.Physical Environment:Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Requires sitting for the majority of the day, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds.
