REPORTS TO: Chief Development Officer

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Per Scholas is seeking a Senior Vice President of Development (SVP) who will lead a team of fundraisers to increase revenue from foundations and individuals. The SVP will meet revenue goals, guide a team of professionals, deepen relationships with foundations and individuals, and execute multi-year fundraising strategies. In the near term, the SVP will need to expand their team from a base of high-performing individuals focused on individual and institutional funders to discrete teams who prioritize individual and major giving, foundation relations, and campaign fundraising.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional with 10+ years of fundraising and management experience, a passion for leading high-impact teams, fostering a culture of fundraising throughout the organization, and meeting goals through systems and processes. Importantly, as Per Scholas enters a phase of strategic growth, the SVP will lead the rapid expansion of revenue in three areas where the organization has had success, including individual giving ($8M annually in 2024), foundations ($29M annually in 2024), and growth campaign ($47M of $135M secured).

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Fundraising Leadership

  • Oversee the development and effective implementation of multi-year fundraising strategies and programs, focused on foundations and individual donors.
  • Strategic account management of foundation and individual donors and prospects, especially those inclined to make seven-figure and multi-year commitments.
  • Lead the production and management of key tools, trainings, and protocols to support foundation and individual fundraising, including decks, concept notes, collateral, proposals and reports.
  • Facilitate the creation and dissemination of best practices in donor acquisition, meeting prep, grant writing, reporting, and internal collaboration.
  • Ensure high quality deliverables produced and used by the foundation and individual giving teams.

Personnel Management

  • Provide supervision, coaching, and accountability for development personnel.
  • Create and implement robust onboarding plans for development staff focused on foundation relations, individual giving, and campaign fundraising.
  • Coach team members on utilizing outcome data and measurement to drive fundraising results; set expectations for development staff to understand and use data effectively.

Growth Campaign Leadership

  • Through the length of the 2025-2030 strategic plan, the SVP will architect and lead the strategic growth campaign fundraising effort in partnership with other Per Scholas leaders, board members, and fundraising personnel.
  • Campaign leadership will include hiring and managing a dedicated campaign fundraiser, building out the campaign structure, pipeline, marketing materials, and leading the pursuit of campaign opportunities.

Organizational Leadership

  • In collaboration with the Chief Development Officer and other SVPs of Development, drive a culture of fundraising and collaboration across development and other teams.
  • Partner with other teams to ensure effective collaboration and leverage of resources.
  • Advance fundraising around key organizational priorities and innovations, helping to ensure dynamic content sharing between fundraising and other teams.
  • Participate in projecting revenues as needed, including quarterly reports and annual budgeting, in partnership with development operations and other stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO US:

Professional Requirements

  • 10+ years of fundraising experience, especially foundation relations, individual and major giving, and campaign fundraising.
