The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Senior Vice President of Inclusion and Accessibility for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau (Visit Lauderdale).
Under the supervision of Visit Lauderdale's CEO/President, the Senior Vice President of Inclusion & Accessibility is responsible for maintaining and growing Visit Lauderdale's global thought leadership and visionary status. The SVP of Inclusion & Accessibility is a member of Visit Lauderdale's Leadership Team.
The goal of the SVP of Inclusion & Accessibility is to develop greater awareness and increased visitation to Greater Fort Lauderdale, the LGBT+ capital of Florida, a global leader and also one of the leading US destinations in the Accessible platform.
The SVP of Inclusion & Accessibility at Visit Lauderdale will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract and engage the LGBT community, ensuring inclusivity and representation in all global marketing efforts, and fostering partnerships with relevant organizations and stakeholders to promote the destination as a welcoming and inclusive place for LGBT+ and Accessible travelers.
The position requires a leader with a minimum of 5 years' experience in the travel and tourism platform who has strong marketing and communication skills, important when communicating with internal departments, local and national organizations and international bodies. Strong presentation skills and visual presence when orating at national and international conferences and speaking to the media. The ideal candidate must also have confidence in decision making, maintaining and building key relationships and be able to make key analyses and judgment based on prior knowledge and experience. There will be both national and international travel.
The SVP of Inclusion & Accessibility will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to ensure that Greater Fort Lauderdale is accessible to all individuals, regardless of their abilities. This includes creating inclusive marketing campaigns, educating both locals and visitors, working with local businesses and national organizations to improve accessibility, and advocating for the needs of individuals with disabilities in the tourism industry. Creating and managing the Inclusion & Accessibility's department budget and approving major expenditures as it relates to the department's expenditures.
The SVP of Inclusion & Accessibility will liaise with other Visit Lauderdale departments such as the Marketing & Communications Department, Global Tourism, Sports & Events, Convention Sales and Multicultural -- directing them with the vision and strategic plan of the Inclusion & Accessible department.
In the event of a disaster (hurricane, etc) all Broward County Employees become emergency workers. This position will assist in various emergency functions as assigned before, during, and after a disaster. This includes, but is not limited to, working at a general population shelter during a hurricane.
General DescriptionOversees and manages all aspects of convention, group and/or leisure sales efforts, including personnel, initiatives, and marketing efforts in one of the following areas: marketing/communications, tourism sales, multicultural tourism, sports development, LGBT tourism, or film/music/entertainment.
Works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.
Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsRequires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, marketing, hotel, restaurant and tourism or closely related field.
Requires six (6) years in hotel/tourism marketing or closely related experience.
