Job purpose

The Senior Warehouse Manager is responsible for all areas related to warehouse operations and distribution. This role is responsible for assisting the Director of warehouse operations with overseeing the overall operational administration and management of C&F Enterprises Chapman warehouse; assisting in developing and implementing strategies for improving key performance indicators including pick rates, accuracy, incident rates, overtime, and damages/returns; achieving business objectives, ensuring inventory is accounted for in a safe and efficient manner, establishing and maintaining workflow processes as necessary to meet both delivery goals and performance standards; maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Oversees the implementation of all warehouse operations, including logistics, scheduling systems, delivery, and transportation, shipping and receiving activity, security, emergency action plans, and closing procedures.
  • Develops and drives culture of accountability through daily assessments and operational evaluation.
  • Upon review of operating results of the assigned warehouse, takes steps to correct any issues or concerns.
  • Supervise large teams of warehouse staff, including shift leads and supervisors. Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and development opportunities.
  • Monitor the activities involved in the efficient movement of product including accurate receipt, storage and distribution maximizing space, resources and avoiding damages.
  • Monitor inventory levels, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to maintain accuracy.
  • Responsible for effective procedures and controls for the safe and efficient movement and preservation of product; monitors adherence to established procedures to ensure safety measures are followed and keeping in compliance with United States Customs and Border Protection regulations.
  • Respo0nsible for safeguarding warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols. Ensures accurate inventory tracking cycle counting, and reporting to optimal stock levels
  • Responsible for assisting in the successful implementation, assessment, and transition of all new operational initiatives.
  • Analyzes trends in technology and assesses the impact of emerging technologies to create efficiencies in warehousing and logistics.
  • Assists in Developing, documents, and executes standard operating procedures across assigned facility(s)
  • Assists in the development and implementation of productivity standards and goals in support of the annual operating plan.
  • Directs the creation of metrics to measure the performance of all areas of warehouse and logistics.
  • Cultivates a high performance, result-oriented culture by maintaining positive working relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Documents program procedures and best practices for internal use, as well as to enable sharing of successful models with other companies within C&F Enterprises.
  • Using quantifiable metrics and management expertise, performs departmental audits to determine cost benefit as well as demand and service capacity.
  • Ensures optimal effectiveness and production through effective use of inventory software specifically warehouse management, inventory procurement and management, labor control, and distribution logistics.
  • Responsible for providing leadership in decision-making and vision building for C&F Enterprises.
  • Maintains a focus for self and team on continuous learning that will enhance skill sets and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • A 4-year degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Operations, Finance and/or equivalent experience
  • 10 or more years in warehouse operations management experience
  • Ability to quickly learn and use a variety of system tools
  • Direct experience with WMS, Apprise, and or other enterprise systems is required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across department functions
  • Demonstrated leadership skills; proven ability to influence cross functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to influence desired outcomes through direct and indirect resources
  • Willing and able to travel in between warehouse locations

  • Lifting: Raising or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling)
  • Carrying, Pushing, Pulling boxes and orders up to 75 lbs.
