The primary responsibility of the Food Server is to provide prompt, courteous service to all patrons and ensure the guests receive a pleasurable dining experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (includes but is not limited to the following)
* Must demonstrate pride, attention to detail and have expert knowledge in all aspects of restaurant (i.e. menu items, food prep, service standards, bar concept, etc.)
* Food servers are ultimately responsible for the experience of the guest in their assigned station.
* Registers transactions, handles cash, room charges and complimentary tickets according to procedures and guidelines established by management. Accept payment as required. Accounts for all money received and all transactions recorded during shift.
* Maintains the appropriate appearance of work station in accordance with county health and department service standards.
* Ensures that side-work, supplies and stock is prepared for the shift and closing side-work is prepared for next shift.
* Follows all applicable safety procedures.
* Follows all standard operating procedures
* Perform other related duties as assigned and requested.
* Provides prompt, courteous food and beverage service to casino guests within property restaurants.
* Possesses a keen sense of timing and is capable of discreetly speeding up or slowing down his/her service as necessary.
* Acknowledge customers immediately with a smile.
* Inform guests of any specials and has a thorough understanding of the beverage and food menu to answer any questions the guest may have.
* Take beverage order and serves in a timely manner.
* Ensure the food order is correct before serving to the guests.
* Serve meals/beverages to guests and periodically returns to assigned tables for additional service.
* Monitors tables closely and is attentive to guests' needs. Remains attentive to the needs and requests of the customers during their stay.
* Clears empty plates and glasses from tables. Clearing and scraping all dishes in the side stations after clearing a table.
* Prepare sections and side stations, i.e., make sure tables are cleaned and set properly.
* Prepare silverware neatly and quickly at table. Clean area when finished preparing.
* Accept payments and maintains accountability for all transactions and complimentary charges.
* Maintains a clean workstation.
* May be required to run food on a rotational basis regardless of where guest is seated
* Is at all times appropriately groomed and wears the uniform provided
* Work requires schedule flexibility which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: (knowledge, skills, and abilities)
* Extensive knowledge of food and beverage products.
* Ability to perform basic/intermediate math skills.
* Ability to operate point of sale systems.
* Ability to read, write and understand English.
* Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with guests, staff and management.
* Knowledge, understanding and compliance of policies and procedures, service expectations, job descriptions, daily memorandums, chemical labels and other instructions.
* Promotes casino events, property services and promotional campaigns
* Must be able to work individually and as part of a team in collaboration with others
* Meets attendance guidelines of the job and adhering to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
* Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time.
* Ability to perform reaching and stooping motions repeatedly.
* Visual ability needed to accurately serve guests
* Ability to work at a fast pace, high volume environment involving constant public interaction.
* Shifts may vary based on business needs.
* Must be able to work any day of the week and any shift, including holidays and weekends.
* Must be able to handle intoxicated guests in a professional manner and according to policy.
* Must be able to bend, twist, turn, push and pull, as well as lift and carry above/below the shoulders a minimum of 20 lbs or more repeatedly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* 1 - 2 years prior serving experience required in a fine dining or upscale establishment
* Must be 21 years of age.
* High School Diploma or equivalent required.
* Must obtain a Food Handlers certificate from County Health Department.
* Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business.
* Must pass background check
* Must present a neat and professional appearance.
* Work requires professional interactions with customers, public and co-workers.
* Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Work requires ability to accurately count money and provide change and operate a point of sale system.
* Must possess basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.
* Works well with others, especially other wait people, bartenders, cooks, supervisors, etc.
