What will you do in this role:

* Interacts with residents, families, staff, and other visitors to the community in a pleasant, respectful, and courteous manner

* Act as a positive representative of the community at all times

* Take orders and serve residents & guests requested food & beverage items

* Inform residents & guests of daily menu offerings

* Clear, clean and sanitize tables between each sitting, following Balfour's infection control policies

* Set up dining room, which includes a full place setting at every seat, extra cups, saucers, soup bowls and plates, glasses and napkins in their appropriate locations

* Clean and mop ice cream area, wait-staff line, soup area and the coffee, juice and milk stations

* Make fresh coffee as needed

* Assist residents as needed, may include cutting food and operating condiments

* Dining room clean up, vacuum, clean menus, check for missing service items (sugar caddies, etc.)

You have:

* The ability to maintain a customer focus treating all customers with respect and integrity

* The ability to provide a high level of compassion and respect for our elderly residents

* A talent for interacting with a wide variety of people including our residents & their guests

* The ability to read, write and communicate in English

You might also have:

* Experience as a server or other hospitality industry experience

* Customer service experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

* Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and squat for prolonged periods

* Ability to push/pull objects and lift/carry up to 20 pounds unassisted on a frequent basis (occasionally up to 50 pounds, unassisted)

* Willing to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends as well as holidays, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary

* May be exposed to unpleasant odors, contagious diseases and blood borne pathogens

* Balfour is a pet-friendly community; you may be exposed to animal hair and dander
