DescriptionThe Service Center Director will oversee two industrial manufacturing facilities in Solomon, KS and Osage, KS. The director's position is directly connected to safety, quality, cost, productivity, and employee turnover. To be successful within this role, the Director must maintain high ethical standards and credibility while setting standards to reflect a strong work ethic, drive continuous productivity improvements that focus on safety, quality, profitability, and customer satisfaction. This will be accomplished by being compliant with all safety requirements, product quality standards and company policies which are essential functions of this role and driving adherence to these throughout the organization are the responsibility of the director.
  • Work with the operations team to continuously improve and sustain standards for safety, quality, productivity, cost, and delivery.
  • Perform root cause corrective action analysis on all safety, quality and productivity related issues and report findings to leadership team to review.
  • Hold the organization accountable for adhering to all safety policies and set a good example of integrity for the personnel in which you serve. Establish a culture of safety.
  • Lead monthly safety meetings and monitor daily activities to identify risk behaviors within the guidelines set by corporate safety.
  • Complete weekly safety inspections of the departmental equipment and tools to prevent potential injuries, participate and be pro-active in removing hazards in the workplace.
  • Ensure employees are completing required safety and compliance training by scheduled due dates assigned by the organization.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of all equipment is being performed to accomplish safe operations.

  • Ensure proper maintenance of all quality performance metrics and root cause and corrective actions steps are being performed to accomplish goals.
  • Monitor employees to eliminate risk behavior and poor job performance. Properly document deficiencies reflecting a consistent approach to each incident.
  • Develop organizational capability through increasing employee growth and driving a high performance work team capable of critical thinking and driving change in leadership positions.
  • Eliminate the potential of operating outside process standards, understanding the work, the technicians, and the environment.
  • Analyze financial and performance data to reveal adjustments needed to maintain profitability.
  • Implement lean manufacturing techniques and concepts and effectively communicate with the team the benefits thereof.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to lower costs and increase profitability.
  • Remove obstacles to prevent production stoppages or not meeting production output objectives.
  • Maintain production tracking so that we can monitor trends and identify training opportunities for the departmental production personnel.
  • Contribute to growth by having a collaborative working relationship with Sales, Inventory Management, and Operations to identify opportunities to utilize capacity, reduce lead times, and increase margin.

  • Lead weekly production meetings with each departmental supervisor to determine the adjustments needed to accomplish weekly goals.
  • Update material spreadsheets and accurately account for finished product as well as product in the raw material storage areas; forecast revenue for the current month.
  • Identify all scheduling conflicts and communicate to leadership when significant revenue could be adversely impacted.
  • Ensure finished goods storage areas are utilized effectively, and that the product is stored properly within the designated areas.
  • Must be able to identify and understand the differences of the product classes and what values each hold regarding salvage and recondition inventory.
  • Complete timekeeping in a timely manner regarding payroll activities and labor transfers.
  • Review and approve POs for site operations based on spending authorization.
  • Uphold corporate standards when engaging in vendor and or customer communications.
  • Influence employees to create a culture that encourages integrity, trust, safe work practices via open discussions and setting accountability standards.
  • Build bench strength by collaborating with leadership team to ensure future growth and leadership opportunities for employees.
  • Teach technical skills as directed and create job aids as needed. Ensure all personnel receive adequate training to perform the tasks assigned.
  • Build strong working relationships with key personnel from outside facilities and internal departments.
  • Ensure all departmental personnel certifications remain up to date.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Corporate Leadership group
Requirements
  • Bachelors or master's degree in business/engineering or similar field, preferred.
  • 5+ year's management experience in industrial manufacturing, industrial manufacturing with a focus on power products preferred.
  • Project management experience required.
  • Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in the workplace and safety procedures followed at all times. Notify leadership immediately of any safety concerns or hazardous conditions.
  • Ability to interpret work orders to department team and ensure the team has what they need to be set up for success to execute
  • Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations and work order due dates are met
  • Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, and adherence to employee handbook policies
  • Ability to learn other department job functions and assist team members where needed.
  • Completion of assigned company compliance training by scheduled due date.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment
