About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Service Director to oversee the front-of-house operations and leadership for our events. This pivotal role is responsible for building a strong and reliable staff base with a strong focus on the recruitment, training, and development of event leads (catering captains). The ideal candidate will have a robust network in the Seattle area, a strong understanding of event budgeting, and the ability to manage staffing and event execution in alignment with budgeting standards. Key responsibilities include:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, manage, and lead a strong front-of-house team, with a focus on developing event leads and maintaining high service standards.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and scheduling to ensure a dependable and skilled workforce for every event.
  • Provide ongoing training and foster a supportive environment to motivate and empower staff for optimal performance.
  • Leverage your Seattle-area network to recruit top-tier talent, including both experienced professionals and new hires eager to grow.
  • Develop strategies to retain talent and create a scalable staffing pipeline for seasonal and large-scale events, collaborating with other departments to meet staffing needs.

Operational Excellence & Event Execution

  • Oversee front-of-house operations during events, ensuring smooth execution and adherence to client specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
  • Ensure seamless communication with clients and internal teams to align on expectations and ensure satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with event management and catering teams to align service delivery with both client expectations and budgetary goals.
  • Manage and monitor staffing, training, and operational budgets, balancing cost-efficiency with service quality.
  • Regularly review event budgets and labor costs to ensure alignment with financial constraints and profitability targets.
  • Work with the finance team to track labor costs, minimize waste, and adjust strategies as needed to meet financial goals.
  • Provide regular budget reports, identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.

About You:

  • Proven leadership experience in event management, catering, or hospitality, preferably in the Seattle area.
  • Extensive network of contacts within the Seattle event and hospitality industry.
  • Strong ability to recruit, train, and motivate staff, with a focus on creating and nurturing event leads.
  • Deep understanding of event budgeting, with the ability to align staffing and service delivery with financial goals.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
  • Experience in developing and implementing operational systems and processes to improve service delivery.
  • Strong understanding of the nuances of event planning and execution, particularly with high-end and large-scale events.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
