Responsibilities:
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and electrical schematics, blueprints and/or technical manuals to perform necessary work
- Conducts preventive maintenance, service, repair and troubleshooting of commercial HVAC equipment and systems.
- Performs installation of HVAC equipment
- Maintains a complete set of necessary tools applicable to the trade and is proficient in their use
- Follows all safety practices and adheres to all safety related policies
Qualifications:
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for company assets used performing HVAC service work
- Holds a valid drivers license
- Makes purchases at local supply houses in accordance with company policy
- Completes neat, detailed and accurate service reports and submits them in a timely manner
- Routinely works independently while performing HVAC service work
- Routinely interacts with clients
- Conducts self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Technical school graduate or successful completion of an HVAC Apprenticeship program
- HVAC Journeyman license
- CFC Certification (Type 1 & 2 minimum)
- 1 to 5 years commercial HVAC experience at the Journeyman level
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of HVAC fundamentals to include basic thermodynamics and psychrometrics, basic electricity, ability to perform electrical, controls and refrigerant circuit diagnostics.
- Proficiency in performing preventive maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting and diagnostics on light commercial HVAC equipment with capacities up to 10-tons such as gas/electric packaged equipment, split systems, heat pumps, single zone ductless split systems, light commercial boilers, exhaust fans and pumps up to 5-HP
- Capable of performing preventive maintenance on some commercial HVAC equipment in excess of 10-tons cooling capacities with limited repair and troubleshooting capabilities
- Knowledge of tools and equipment needed to perform service and repair on HVAC equipment and systems.
- Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents
- Able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions and approaches to problems
- Able to perform mathematical calculations
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Spend long periods of time standing
- Ability to climb ladders to perform work
- Work in high elevations
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Daily travel to multiple job locations
- May be subjected to inclement weather and hazardous working conditions
- Work weekend or night-time duty as needed to include on-call duty
