SUMMARYThe Service Technician-Trailer provides repairs, maintenance and care for the customer's equipment which shall be of the highest possible standard of quality.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: (This is a list of essential job duties but is not intended tobe exhaustive. All duties listed may not be required at all locations.)Technical proficiency and teamwork:
Obtain and maintain Class A certification. Attend hands-on classes as required.Strive for a 90% or higher proficiency average.Conduct self in a professional manner while demonstrating a strong work ethic. Perform repairs correctly and efficiently.Disassemble and reassemble in proper sequence so that another tech can easily follow your work.Foster the Service Team attitude by interacting with others in a positive manner.Ability to work daily and overtime as required.Ability to assist in other work-related areas as requested.Technical support and development:Review customer's concerns and recent service history to gain a greater understanding of the vehicle complaint and concerns. Communicate professionally with team members and customers.Obtain required information and documentation to initiate and successfully file warranty claims.Customer satisfaction:Perform a courtesy inspection of every vehicle.Communicate any repair/preventative maintenance needed which is not noted on the work order. Always identify the three C's - Complaint, Cause, Correction.Determine necessary parts needed to complete repairs in a timely manner.Verify all service work has been performed and completed with the highest possible standard of quality.Communication:Advocate open communications between shift technicians and your supervisor to ensure an efficient flow of information.Compliance:Promote a safe (i.e. eye protection, etc.) and clean work environment.Ability to be insurable, drive a vehicle, and obtain and maintain a CDL (if required by location) with appropriate endorsements.Promote the proper use, care and storage of company tools and equipment.Other duties as assigned.SKILLS /TRAINING/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSHigh School Diploma, 2-year Technical School preferred. Equivalent amount of work experience may be considered in lieu of schooling.Unrestricted Driver's License - Technician must be able to safely drive vehicles around the location property as well as pull vehicles into the shop bays.CDL A or B License beneficial, assistance will be given to obtain if willing. (Some locations may require a CDL)Sheet metal workFabricating and welding of steel and aluminum.Carpentry and wood working.Pneumatic brake systems.Roll up door repair and maintenance.Air ride and spring ride diagnosis and repair procedures.Ability to learn and understand the physics of how trailers support and carry the weight of a load without failure in order to make the proper repair.Electrical wiring systems and ABS braking repairs.Mechanical ability to maintain wheel end and brake system repairs.Perform heavy duty truck/trailer repair and maintenance. Operate power and hand tools and other equipment used in servicing vehicles. Move freely throughout the service area, including continuous physical effort; climbing in/out of trailers, underneath trailers, bending, walking, manipulating tools/equipment, etc. Written (for documenting work) and verbal communication skills.Build and maintain positive relationships with co-workers and customers.Read and interpret work orders, service information and wiring diagrams. Use testing equipment including computers, and other electronic diagnostic equipment to determine failed components. Perform basic math calculations.WORK CONTACTS: Internal contacts will consist of co-workers, immediate and departmental managers to exchange and provide information as well as to present and discuss information and/or issues.
