The Service Technician is responsible for performing basic diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment. This position may require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager, Assistant Service Manager, or other experienced Service Technicians.

Essential Job Functions:

* Perform basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment and established Agriculture Management Solutions (AMS) products.

* Participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.

* Maintain current and up to date knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.

* Maintain condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment

* Account for all time on a timecard and for all material used in performing assigned duties.

* Ability and willingness to work overtime including extended hours and weekends.

* Follow all safety rules, policies and regulations and keep your workplace clean, orderly and free of hazards.

* All other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Skills, Knowledge and Competencies:

* High School Diploma or Equivalent.

* College Degree or Advanced Service Technician Certification preferred.

* Ability to perform advanced repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following the Technical Manual procedures.

* Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment.

* Highly skilled in operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.

* Ability to use Service Advisor.

* Conduct business in alignment with the company's Mission, Vision and Core Values.

* Listens and communicates in a clear and efficient way sharing relevant thoughts, ideas and key information with colleagues and customers.

* Knowledge of standard desktop and software applications such as Microsoft, Word, Excel, Outlook, e-mail and internet functions and ability to learn the required business system computer software and programs necessary for this position.

* Takes personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work and achieves results with little oversight. Shows up to work on time, and follows instructions, policies and procedures. Stays focused on tasks despite the distractions and interruptions and makes the best use of available time and resources to achieve desired results.

* Quickly identifies problems, evaluates potential roadblocks and risk and swiftly generates a course of action toward resolution.

Physical Demands, Work Environment and Travel:

* Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.

* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

* Ability to perform tasks related to described essential job functions for duration of the work shift including but not limited to sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, leaning, twisting and in certain positions driving.

* Most duties are performed in a Shop Environment.

* Shop environments may expose you to hot or cold weather conditions.

* You may be exposed to climate-controlled office environments when traveling or while in other areas or departments.

* Travel is required.
