JOB SUMMARYOperate and perform production machine set-ups & maintenance of semi-automated custom tappers, four/multi-slides, machining centers. Responsible for quality and quantity of own work.REPORTING TOProduction ManagerESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
- Sets up and operates machine that automatically performs multi-progression operations such as roll threading and/or heading to produce micro precision metal parts from a variety of metals and alloys.
- Selects, installs, and aligns, dies, rolls, cutting tools, guides and stops to set up machine, using hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Positions coil of metal wire or rod on feed spindle and threads it through straightening rolls into feed mechanism.
- Perform first piece and in process inspection of parts to maintain tolerance limits and quality.
- Identify root causes to machine failure and provide service to return the machine back to operational standard.
- Solicit and apply input from appropriate team members to resolve quality issues.
- Where applicable, load and unload parts from chuck, collets, vises and fixtures.
- Clean and perform preventative maintenance on machines daily.
- Follow, develop, revise and update machine maintenance logs and associate schedules to meet production volume and quality requirements.
- Complete appropriate production paperwork as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment and follow all safety regulations and procedures.
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- ability to move large, bulky objects of up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Mechanically inclined and understands wire form machining.
- Knowledge of various hand tools, power tools, and all basic measuring tools, such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, plug gauges and platform indicators.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED or vocational technical school certificate.
- 5-10yrs of automated production machine set-up, maintenance and repair experience, preferably on tapping, fourslide, and/or cold heading machines.
