Job Title: Convenience Store Team Member Department: Operations Reports To: Convenience Store Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Shift: 2nd Shift POSITION SUMMARY The Convenience Store Team Member provides friendly customer service. This position is responsible for taking care of our customers, stocking and merchandising the store, processing customer transactions with a helpful and fun attitude, and creating a positive energetic atmosphere for our customers. CORE FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
- Provides friendly customer service.
- Welcomes customers to the store.
- Assists customers with items they are looking for and in the purchase of store merchandise.
- Verifies customer's age by asking for appropriate identification, in accordance with company policy and state/federal laws.
- Takes payment using POS system. Accurately rings up all sales and able to process cash and credit card purchases.
- Develops thoughtful and caring relationships with customers.
- Answers the telephone and assists callers using proper phone etiquette.
- Addresses customer concerns and resolves issues when a customer is not satisfied with the service or product received.
- Communicates and works cooperatively with the Store Leadership to maintain store standards.
- Ensures floors are clean and free of debris.
- Maintains proper housekeeping in the store by dusting shelves, cleaning windows, straightening displays, and keeping product clean and free from dust.
- Stocks and organizes the store as needed. Assists with inventory and makes notations for management of any items in short supply.
- Assures that gas pumps are operating properly, calling for assistance when necessary.
- Participates in merchandising and displaying of all products.
- Works with Store Leadership to carry out product resets and understand sales trends.
- Always makes the best use of time and resources; seeks ways to reduce costs.
- Prevents loss by knowing and complying with DMG's safety requirements.
- Identifies the sequence of tasks and the resources needed to achieve a goal and prioritizes key action steps.
- Anticipates the impacts and risks of decisions and actions.
- Contributes to overall store readiness.
- Displays signage to ensure all products are properly priced.
- In absence of Store Leadership, checks, and scans in vendor invoices to ensure the correct product is being received.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Store Leadership.

- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and all team members.
- Possesses excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Good oral and written communication.
- Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies.
- Proper training and knowledge of the following equipment/procedures: cash register, box cutter, gas console equipment, and proper lifting techniques.
- Complete knowledge of all company security regulations and federal/state/local regulations relating to the sale of alcohol and/or tobacco products.
- Effective mathematical skills for proper money handling.
- Ability to obtain liquor licensure as required by state or by local municipality.
- Ability to obtain any other applicable certifications/licensure as required.
- Commitment to excellence in customer service and other DMG values.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 3-6 months customer-service experience preferred.
- Prior experience with cash register and/or cash handling highly recommended.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds on an occasional basis
- Frequent stopping, bending, squatting, kneeling, walking, reaching turning, climbing stairs/ladders.
- Must be able to work at a fast pace.
- Regularly exposed to a cool, damp environment (coolers) as well as extreme hot temperatures (ovens, grills)
