This position involves ensuring that technicians update the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) correctly and in a timely manner, covering for absences, leading meetings, and monitoring team performance. The Shift Lead will work closely with maintenance, quality, and planning teams to support efficient production and address any issues promptly.Key Responsibilities:
  • Reporting and Communication:
    • Report to Supervisors: Provide regular updates and reports to supervisors on shift performance, issues, and any critical developments.
    • Lead Meetings: Conduct and lead turn-over meetings and production meetings when necessary, ensuring clear communication of shift goals, performance metrics, and any operational changes.
  • MES System Management:
    • Ensure Accurate MES Updates: Oversee that technicians and operators update the MES system correctly and in a timely manner. Verify that all data entries are accurate and reflect real-time production status.
    • Understand MES Data: Have a comprehensive understanding of MES data specific to various technologies used on the floor. Use this data to make informed decisions and drive improvements.
  • Coverage and Absence Management:
    • Cover for Absences: Fill in for technicians, supervisors, and packers during their absence. Ensure continuity of operations and maintain productivity levels in their absence.
    • Shift Report Fulfillment: Prepare and fulfill shift reports if supervisors are not present, documenting key activities, performance metrics, and any incidents that occurred during the shift.
  • Team Management:
    • Monitor Technicians and Operators: Supervise technicians and operators during the shift, monitoring their breaks, performance, and adherence to procedures.
    • Performance Management: Evaluate team performance, provide feedback, and address any performance issues or concerns promptly to ensure a productive work environment.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Work Closely with Teams: Collaborate with maintenance, quality control, and planning teams to ensure smooth operations, address equipment issues, and maintain high product quality.
    • Coordinate with Other Shift Leads: Be flexible in covering shifts for other Shift Leads on different shifts and platforms, ensuring seamless operations across all shifts.
  • Training and Development:
    • Support Training: Assist in training new technicians and operators, providing guidance and support to help them acclimate to their roles.
    • Monitor Training Progress: Ensure that ongoing training programs are effective and that team members are continuously improving their skills and knowledge.
    • Quality: Perform quality checks at the beginning of the shift and during the shift .
  • Operational Support:
    • Monitor Changeovers: Oversee machine changeovers to ensure they are executed smoothly and efficiently, minimizing downtime and production delays.
    • Machine Cleaning and Downtimes: Ensure that machines are cleaned according to schedule and that downtimes are managed effectively. Coordinate with maintenance to address any equipment issues that arise.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability:
    • Adapt to Changing Needs: Be prepared to adapt to changing operational needs and priorities. Demonstrate flexibility in managing different shifts and handling various platforms as required.
    • Support Multiple Platforms: Gain and maintain knowledge of different platforms and technologies to provide effective support across all areas of operations.
