**Job Description:**

+ The Shift Supervisor oversees all aspects of cottage operations for scheduled shifts; serves as a role model for staff and residents.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**

Oversees all aspects of cottage operations for scheduled shifts Oversees treatment of youth during scheduled shifts Monitors proper implementation of Psycho-Educational Model (PEM) providing consultation, supervision and feedback to Youth Care Workers I, II, and III (YCWs) Models and ensures that YCWs effectively use the PEM tools (e.g., individualized motivation system, self-government, problem solving techniques) Prepares supervision for assigned Youth Care Workers Oversees youth admission and departure Conducts shift transition meetings and treatment planning conferences and other meetings as scheduled Ensures safety in program and non-program areas in accordance with guidelines/procedures Ensures adherence to agency policies and procedures (e.g., physical holdings, youth safety, outings, and reporting guidelines, etc.) Ensures compliance with state, local, grant, contract, or licensure requirements Directly supervises 5-10 employees in the Youth Care Worker position. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

**EDUCATION**

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university

- Or equivalent combination of education and experience**EXPERIENCE**

- One to two years related experience and/or training

- Ability to learn and demonstrate required training including; Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and PEM

- First Aide/CPR

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, time keeping software and electronic medical records

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS**

- Valid driver's license

- Consistently at work and on time

- Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent

- Employee is frequently required to stand; walk and talk or hear.

- The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.

- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus .

- Employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

- Travel around campus and between campuses may be required
