Overview:
Maine Waste to Energy is seeking a highly motivated Shift Supervisor to join our team. As a Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning, supervising, coordinating, and directing all operations at our Waste-to-Energy Facility in a safe and efficient manner. This role requires hands-on leadership, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to ensure smooth operations and compliance with all safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct shift personnel involved in waste processing and power generation.
- Operate plant equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with operating procedures, regulations, and permits.
- Assume responsibility for facility operations and maintenance in the absence of the Plant Manager and Operations & Maintenance Manager.
- Perform and oversee equipment start-ups, shutdowns, and electrical switching.
- Conduct chemical and water analyses to meet plant specifications.
- Maintain detailed logs, records, and reports on plant operations.
- Ensure the implementation and maintenance of the waste pit management system.
- Provide on-the-job training to personnel and supervise outside contractors as needed.
- Manage shift schedules, handle emergency situations, and enforce safety and operational procedures.
Requirements:
- Valid Class C Maine vehicle license.
- Ability to follow and give clear oral and written instructions.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces and elevated platforms, and endure hot and adverse weather conditions.
- Complete knowledge of power plant equipment and systems with a Maine State First Class Engineers License.
- Ability to obtain QRO Provisional Certification within 3 months of hire, with Full QRO Certification expected within 6 months.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team effectively.
- A college degree in a relevant field and 5 years of experience in power generation or industrial power plant operation preferred; an AS degree with 7 years of experience or a high school diploma with 10 years of experience may be considered.
- Must possess good math skills and demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the level of experience.
