Shipping and Receiving Clerk - Tootsies : Job Details

Responsibilities:

• Assist with loading and unloading of trucks as needed.
• Inspect materials for defects and/or damage during shipping.
• Report defective materials or questionable conditions to management.
• Record shortages, lost shipments, etc., and report missing items to management.
• Ensure thorough and accurate completion of shipping and receiving functions, i.e., ticketing, floor preparation of new merchandise (steaming, proper theft deterrent devices, appropriate hanger, etc.), trunk show prep.
• Verify that new receipts are appropriately assigned to each location.
• Accurately prepare items for shipment, i.e., new receipts, charge sends, transfers, RTVs, trunk shows; determine the best method of shipment.
• Prepare/assemble containers for item shipment.
• Ensure all back areas are clean, organized, and maintained.
• May operate tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from department to storage or work areas.
• Follow loss prevention, department policies, procedures, and objectives, and safety procedures as directed by management.
• Maintain professional and supportive relationships with fellow team members, providing backup to other employees as the needs of the business dictate.
• Assist with recurring physical inventory, as requested.
• Additional responsibilities may be added as the needs of the business evolve.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in shipping & receiving.
• Strong computer skills.
• Knowledge of UPS, FedEx operations preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Exhibit a strong sense of professionalism, courtesy and friendly demeanor.
• Ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule for a retail business, including nights, weekends, store events, etc.

Education:

• High School education or equivalent.
