Summary: The Shipping & Receiving clerk oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. These shipping activities encompass raw materials, raw goods, WIP, and finished goods. This includes keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment: Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Work with other Shipping Clerks to coordinate and be aware of the movement of materials and workflow through departments at Gent Machine
- Maintain knowledge of due dates, manufacturing schedules, manufacturing progress, and secondary requirements, including but not limited to anodizing and plating
- Communicate shipping and delivery needs with all affected departments, i.e., Quality and shipping, keeping employees informed of any changes and providing enough time for changes to the schedule. Create easy to follow process for said communication
- Pack parts as needed either for final shipment or for shipment to sub contractors
- Communicate with management team the status of parts in WIP
- Ship high profile customer's parts
- Create and print product labels
- Complete all necessary paperwork to ship product
- Maintain an organized Inventory system
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed concerning loading and unloading
- Manage scrap pick up in conjunction with the Operations Leader
- Oversee the parts washer and chip spinner employees in conjunction with the Operations Leader. Create communication strategy ensuring all employees understand priorities
- Communicate with office concerning shipping cards, packing slips, certifications, inventory counts, and customer returns
- Problem-solve customer questions and concerns regarding shipping
- Other duties as needed
Qualification Requirements: - Minimum of three (3) years' experience working in a shipping department
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Proficient in EstiTrack or equivalent ERP software
- Fluent in Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Excel
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to:
- Frequently stand and walk on oily surfaces
- Move material routinely
- Lift, push and pull up to 80 pounds on a regular basis
- Frequently pack and lift boxes that weigh up to 65 lbs
- Drive Lift Trucks and Material Handling equipment
- Drive product for delivery and/or pick up as needed
