Horberg Industries, Inc.Shipping / Receiving ClerkSummaryResponsible for common shipping duties (e.g., gather product and paperwork, pack and prepare for shipment), receiving functions (e.g., unload incoming material, count and perform basic inspection), as well as parts cleaning and final finishing. This role requires knowledge of compliance, quality control, and export control regulations.Duties and Responsibilities
  • Unload and receive all incoming shipments. Inspect external packaging and notify shipper and/or delivery personnel of any apparent shipping damages and/or shortages.
  • Sign for and verify all incoming deliveries against purchase orders and route to receiving inspection area.
  • Supervise loading and unloading of all deliveries; assure compliance with workplace safety procedures. Limit access to loading dock by unauthorized individuals.
  • Clean and finish (tumble) parts for shipment/internal operations according to order specifications.
  • Verify part counts with digital parts counting scale and maintain accurate records.
  • Take finished orders after final inspection, wrap/bag, package, and label parts for shipment.
  • Enter Shipment details / generate packing lists and certificates of compliance.
  • Prepare weekly scheduled shipment reports.
  • Prepare purchase orders for outside operations.
  • Follow up with vendors to ensure on time deliveries.
  • Handle expedited shipping requests.
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Perform all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods.
  • Perform other duties, inventory management, including shipping /receiving, secondary manufacturing operations, and building/grounds maintenance activities, as requested.
  • Some driving may be required (pickups/deliveries).
  • Reports to Quality Manager; works with Shop Foreman and Customer Service.
Job Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of general shop layout, item identification, shop/warehouse procedures, and storage areas in order to pull stock and materials in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Ability to prepare and complete forms or enter data relating to stock description, quantity, unit of issue, and labeling for incoming and outgoing supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations and related hardware, and the ability to learn software programs related to warehouse operations (e.g., ERP software, Office365).
  • Skill and ability to operate forklifts, manual dollies, manual platform lifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and hand tools used in shop operations.
  • Ability to identify obvious damage to equipment and materials through visual inspection.
  • Ability to stock, move, arrange and rotate shop/warehouse items in accordance with standard operating procedures, and/or guidance from supervisor.
  • Willingness to effectively work in a collaborative, team environment.
Requirements
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to follow verbal instructions and use basic math.
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and registration.
  • Some heavy lifting required.
  • Forklift training certificate, desirable.
Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum of a high school education or GED.
  • One year of factory-related experience in shipping and receiving.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with aerospace or defense industry shipping and receiving operations.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems and practices.
  • Familiarity with inventory control procedures.
  • Experience with ERP systems and inventory tracking software.
  • AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management system knowledge or experience.
