The main function of this position is to lead the international student compliance office by developing, maintaining, and executing policy in matters of compliance pertaining to international: admission, immigration, and finances. This person will also provide advice to the University and non-US resident/citizen prospective/enrolled/recently graduated students connected to APU (undergraduate, graduate, ALCI) in matters related to immigration compliance. This person is responsible for ensuring the detailed accuracy of the documentation vital to having international students and faculty study/research at APU.
This position is responsible to represent the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS) as a Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) on behalf of Azusa Pacific University. In addition, this position serves as the Responsible Officer for the US State Department's Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).

Primary Duties/Essential Functions
Leads the International Student Compliance Office.
Trains and monitors adherence to compliance of all DSOs within the university.
Responsible liaison between APU and US Immigration Services (INS) - as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and the US Dept. of State as the Responsible Officer for the Exchange Visitor Program in order to:
Functions as a US CIS Designated School and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the U.S. State Dept.
Student advisor for all nonimmigrant alien categories who wish to study at APU.
Responsible to stay current on legal regulations and issues pertaining to international students/scholars and inform appropriate staff of current regulations.
Assist in student orientations and conducts workshops as needed.
Responsible to maintain institutional documentation archiving of the U.S. CIS and State department documents.
Serves as a liaison and mediator for international students with campus personnel, community members, agencies, and international governments on issues related to international students and their educational programs.
Works effectively with the Office of Admissions, Office of the Provost, and other institutional stakeholders. Ensure timely and effective customer service to all international students and
Oversees admissibility of all international students/scholars for all university programs.
Oversees the provision of necessary documentation to assist international students in their relationships with the University, US government agencies, foreign government agencies, national and foreign banks, and other academic institutions.
