ABOUT THE ROLE The Shipping Coordinator is primarily responsible for scheduling and selecting the modes of transportation for personnel and equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as a liaison between carrier and organization to maintain open communication; hold vendors accountable for not meeting service level agreements (SLAs).
- Communicate transportation status to various stakeholders including but not limited to sales representatives, brokers, customers, vendors, and management
- Determine loads using TMS and geographic knowledge; coordinate Overage, Shortage, Damage in transit (OS&D) communicate and receive disposition for OS&D
- Create and distribute weekly shipping reports, customer pick up schedules and daily sales order reports; recommends schedule changes based on reports
- Forecast, schedule and track daily schedule of shipments including but not limited to shuttle coordination; use production schedule to determine required daily capacity; makes recommendations to daily shipment problems
- Facilitate and resolve issues with road breakdowns, accidents, weather delays and any route exceptions
- Minimize freight cost by meeting department KPIs including but not limited to maximizing truck weights
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- One (1) year Logistics experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including skills with Outlook, Word and Excel
- The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, present a professional demeanor and work well independently and within a team environment
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
- 3 years Logistics experience
